Outlaw 2021

Ouch! I couldn’t not wear socks, even for a sprint!

I wouldn’t do it again…. saved me a 2 or 3 mins in total, but lost me a fortnight’s training after while my feet recovered!

How on earth did you do that. It was possibly the longest transition area I’ve ever seen

This was prior to the massive transition, and was when it was at the end of the lake…. Shoes off towards dismount, flying dismount that went perfectly, ran in hard with my bike, just chucked my helmet on the floor, stuck trainers on with elastic laces, no socks, and legged it…. just went like clockwork really, had space around my bike, it went straight on rack first time, everything in place, and had practiced quite a lot.

Never managed anything even remotely close before or since though!

Oh fair enough!!

I thought you were talking about the ‘21’ transition

Wtf are you doing if you saved that much time not putting some socks on. That should take 30 secs max! :joy: :joy: :joy:

We all know what Gentle Breeze means on the Met Office app…

Promise I haven’t entered!!

I find when the bbc app does that, it means they haven’t a bloody clue what’s happening

A man must take his socks seriously.

Just popped back on here to see what’s happening and great to see that you’re racing. I’m competing in a relay team and so will be chasing you on the bike. You’ll have at least a half hour headstart on me so it could be pretty close for me to catch you.

Good Morning :wave:t3:
Welcome back :relaxed:

You’ll fly past me on that machine of yours!

Ive seen you on the local results sheets :scream::fire:

The catch will be easy!
You’ll be doing >40kmh, I’ll be in mortal territory of 34-36kmh :man_shrugging:t4:

On the run, I’ll be mainly trying not to do this (again!) :see_no_evil::rofl::man_shrugging:t4:

I saw that
I fell over at around 25-30km on the slippy canal path overtaking someone, it was cold and wet.
My muscles just cramped and I couldn’t get going again.

Never mind I hadn’t done any long runs or rides or swims and entered on a whim :see_no_evil:

So…since coming back in 2019, I’ve been wearing socks for the bike and run in anything longer than a couple of hours…but…

…with that huge transition and wet weather, I’ll have to change them twice.
And that’s 60-90 seconds I could be doing with elsewhere :man_shrugging:t4:

Also debating my Pippy Longstocking’s (knee length compression socks) over anklets. But they take about two minutes to get on…but they have a huge placebo effect (as do the compression shorts I’m wearing)

I did a 30km without them and in Next% and my legs were trashed compared to with them and Alpha’s

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

das wetter sieht scheiße aus

Think Tri Battle Royale :sob::sob::sob:

I did ONE triathlon in the rain prior to 2019, which ended with me in a foil blanket shivering.

Since starting again EVERY event I’ve done has had precipitation. (Yup, it rained overnight for the 113, so the ground was damp)

I’m gonna get Countryfile up on iPlayer later, as the heaviest rain seemed centred around Lincs, which is the majority of the bike course.

Just getting my nutrition plan written down, along with measuring the transitions on RWGPS, and writing best/worst (non-mechanical) timings for my wife to track me.
Planned the weeks meals, too.

Bike is fettled and ready, bought a vented
Aerohead after riding in the Ultimate on Friday :money_with_wings:

You don’t need that extraneous ‘e’ on the end…but Google translate seems to do it. Scheiss suffice
