Outside Triathlon, I would like to

Lol - I think the rain will put most people off.

Having followed Ed’s recent 600km adventures on FB the idea of longer, more continuous rides is starting to worm its way into my subconscious but I’m better at resisting temptation these days

Sorrynotsorry … you’ll notice the videos did tail off toward the end, mostly because my ability to hold more than one thought in my brain at a time meant they were probably becoming more and more random.
(I made all the videos on my facebook public if people are that bored, work back to Friday night for the full audio visial experience)
Plus obligatory strava humblebrag

I follow Adam Watkins, he pots quite a few vids on YT. This of course means I get suggestions of ‘Katie Kookaburra’ too…

I fancy doing the Breakepic 5 day Mtb race in Colorado next year. I will be 50 so fancy my chances in that age group. Although I live at sea level so think I will struggle with the altitude…

Thinking next year of an unsupported LEJOG. After Lanza my bike fitness will be top so couple of months after that might think about it.

Cape Wrath trail, possibly at some point doing the biennial ultra, but the real dream would be to do it slowly, alone, with time to reflect on the country

I’d like to build or renovate a small house, water fronting, on an estuary somewhere.

A bit closer to Tri, the Tenerife blue trail looks interesting but part of me thinks ultras can be a bit self destructive.

5km in 17.59 and 10 km in 36.59 would be nice

I’d like to hike the GR5 from Geneva to Nice in one go.

Ski Mountaineering racing looks fun too, the Pierra Menta and Patrouille des Glaciers are the big ones, but I’m sure some research would yield some less well known ones in Europe. The Power of Four and the Grand Traverse in the US too. And to do a ski tour/camping trip in Alaska.

The old random notifications thing doing it’s business again. Was scrolling down the posts and saw this, written in 2019

Not picking on you personally @GRamsay but just thought it was funny reflecting on these statements in ‘the good old days’. That’s a genuine statement now right?!

2 years later… Has anyone done any of the things they said they would like to do?

Not here, still want to do them though

There are a load of things I’d do that aren’t surfing related but if I could name one and never do another, it’d be Western States.

Notice Jorgan mentioned Katie Kookaburra. I can’t make her out, she always seems to be on the edge of hating what she does but says that cycling saved her.

I get her crop up on my YT feed as Little One and I tend to watch a lot of Juliet Elliot, she always seems upbeat and happy (must be living down GB’s way!)

I want to do the Highland Trail 550 in the next couple of years, not competitively just for the experience, negotiations for the two weeks off have already begun with er’ indoors.

I never really got over seeing Ride the Divide.

Not much progress for me :slightly_frowning_face:

Was due to do Boston last year and a few of the US states , might get there this year but who knows.

Also been doing the sums around retiring at 58.5

nope! But tbf all mine are longer term aspirations.

We were watching a Simon Reeves programme the other day and he was in Costa Rica. Went there for 3 weeks with Mrs GB a number of years ago and would love to take the girls back there. Definitely a contender for my fave ever country. If i could squeeze an entry into TCC whilst i was there, then that would just be my biggest life win ever! haha

The great divide for me…

Braver than me…was watching a vid of Naish windsurfing at Jaws yesterday, filmed earlier this week, and it was HUGE!

Yeah I’m not saying I’d return from any of them.

I’ve never done any tow in surfing, I’m not sure how that would go. Big wave paddle in surfing is making a comeback and the airbag wetsuits and walkie talkie managed jetskis make it look much easier than it is.

also they don’t film the sh*t people! haha

Row at Henley regatta, now have to be masters, and scull in international races. I can almost feel the pain thinking about it.
