I was always second smallest in my year from around 8, only lad that was smaller had some kind of issue. This was a bit of an issue for someone that loved sports and sometimes ended up playing rugby with what were essentially men!

I started growing about 16 and ended up about average size at 173cm

I have a friend who’s half Glaswegian/half hispanic; you can imagine he’s only up to my shoulders. He doesn’t over compensate at all  :joy:

Yeah, I know that. I honestly think the fact that like Jeffrey I was always one of the shortest in my year of both sexes. But then being just a short arse and not absolutely tiny by about 18 means it never bothered me. That and my dream of being a jump jockey so it was a positive.

Very similar to me. But I had an even later growth spurt at uni where I filled out a bit as well.

Difference was I was proper tough, so still made the county rugby team despite being a scrawny midget.

 :joy: :joy:

I bet the ball looked tiny though, messed with opponents’ perception

I was short in year 9. Everyone else stopped growing about age 15/16 and I kept on going till about 18/19. I realised I was very tall when walking through a door Id walked through hundreds of times I banged my head.

Thought it was odd and measured my height, was now 6’5".

all rugby teams need a scrawny midget or 2 - usually a scrum half and/or winger - to give us forwards someone to “play with” when we get hold of them. Bit like a dog with a toy……

ETA: viz Joe Marler and Faf de Klerk

I was actually a 13 or full back for most of my rugby days. I was very quick as a kid but I could also tackle. There weren’t many forwards getting anywhere near me! :joy: :joy:

I wasn’t enough of a sneaky, arrogant tw@ to be a 9.

Fair to say I’d not last 5 mins these days. The teenagers nowadays are all stacked up on roids and huel and spend their lives in a gym.

Most scrum half’s could pick a fight with themselves and lose…:joy:

I was at Uni with a guy who was a county front row, so this was 1992, and was “too small” and had been told to get on roids then to get big enough to play, then he tried hooker as he refused to do the drugs, then he left rugby.

We had a guy in my year at uni of Leeds who was in the Bath academy (but knew he wouldn’t make 1st team) and he played for Leeds RUFC as it was then. He was a prop and shaped like a barrel so ideal for it. Strong AF but clean. He did a lot strength work and beer to maintain strength and mass.

In the year below a guy played for a Rugby League teams of a place like Castleford but can’t remember exactly which one. He was built like a lean brick shithouse and the club gave him the gear and weights plan. He told me this.

Conor hen ( sorry ) denied a fight licence in the Uk to fight Chris E jnr.
Expected to be honest.

Date 3/2/24.

Fast Eddie and the money men will try every trick in the book to make bank … Saudi ?!

But the big news is they’ve threatened to sanction any boxer, manager, promotors etc that have anything to do with it.

This is big big news, I do do hope they don’t cave in, it’s like a tour rider testing pos and basically refusing to not ride and do the vuelta instead

It’s criminal level corruption in an already dangerous sport.

No surprise to hear the guy who plays Reacher uses T therapy like Mark Lewis; I bet that’s not all he’s taking.

I thought it was all down to natural talent

After our hyrox disagreement … lol
I actually quite respect someone for a Admitting this, there are thousands of recreational steroid users.

Some it’s blatantly obvious, frankly some want a refund.

A growing theme is people taking it for there mental health, this is of course utter bollix, I had some dark days this year, as has been well chronicled ( sorry for boring you all) not for one second did I think “ I know I’ll get some steds and inject myself in the bum!”

Actors taking it I couldn’t really care, pro athletes … crap but I can see the temptation to overcome small margins, Lionel’s mate Colin someone or other from twenty mins in front of Dr Chris to big PTO winner overnight ?!
What amazes me is how he thought he’d get away with it.

Penalties in combat sports should be very severe

But the unpaid weekend warriors taking testosterone … it’s cheating in any sport ever, hyrox are “ looking into “ drug testing apparently after 8.5 hours spectating it didn’t seem as rife as I thought it would be but that’s just yhe eye test
