Yeah, I used to frequent some pretty shady gyms in my youth and it’s a dead give away, especially in women where it looks even more unnatural. Terrible acne on the back and shoulders, voice deepens, aggression - it wasn’t hard to tell the juicers, never mind the ridiculously fast progress.
Those damned vitamin C tablets…
Ahh yes the back acne or at least the scarring from it. Thats a dead give away. And you see plenty of blokes around with that.
I notice there are no ‘asking for a friend’ questions here.
Saving that for when its moved to Blackpool…
Though I can confirm mine are purely from Backne that was so bad as a 15 or so year old that my shirt would occasionally stick…
So, here’s a question…
On the start line of a good amateur race (not national championships, but large city based half marathon, or popular triathlon), what % of the field are knowingly taking something they shouldn’t?
Very few.
Like everyone else that’s just a guess.
I’m targeting preston half marathon / Oulton park, in Nov possibly no idea on size of field but I’d be amazed if it was more than 1%, possibly some big sted head just to complete but he wants the juice for other reasons.
If you said Space bar in Ibiza at the height of summer it would be a lot … and not just the guys apparently
Insta generation
Am I misreading it? You seemed surprised when I said 1-5% of population have tried (OK caveat not currently taking) anabolics
I was surprised at that figure because I don’t think 1-5% (or any?!) of people I know will have. And I’m surely associated with people more likely too compared to people who exercise less/not at all.
Yes I don’t go to any muscle gym where I’m sure it’s rife and easy access, but not many other people do either.
ETA: sorry have just reread this:
Fair enough. Tbh I probably agree that more people dope in the aesthetic-athletic world than the endurance world.
The younger generation are certainly more “ open” than say my age group, as I’m getting changed for my tri based sessions or a bit of boxing they openly talk about the quality of peds and Injection sites?!
They believe that “ everyone “ is on it, which is obviously not true, as I said to Jorgan my environments Prison, gym, Home is a rough Welsh town, the % of use is going to be higher than most places, but a lot of people I know have tried some form of peds in there life, I think it’s quite rare in tri as you would know you are cheating, but some will deceive themselves and us.
It’s use seems to be growing, not sure if you’d agree with that or not?
Being a fairly new gym goer and where I go has a hugely mixed clientele and isn’t a muscle gym. I’ve never actually come into contact with anyone doing it or even talking about it. My naive view is that the majority of people taking gear is for aesthetics primarily.
Females taking it…to achieve the more athletic cross fit look?
I’d agree that 90+ % and that could be high nineties are taking peds for the mirror.
The biggest group by far would be recreational weight lifters, who just want to look good for, usually the opposite sex.
They don’t GAF how much they can lift, how fast they can run or any other performance metric you care to mention, it’s all about looks. Love island style.
The best male physique I’ve seen in recent years was doing a weight/ body weight circuit that was quite similar to some stuff I’ve done, he was moving well too, fast forward 30 mins and he was vaping as soon as he left the building! He 100% was using anavar and possibly winstrol, HGH … who knows.,
Ladies use is rare true, but is growing slowly so I’m told by someone who really would know mostly to develop a “ booty” my son and all his friends say a big bum is one of the best things about hot girls… really?!?
So over 3 million people in this country have taken steroids?! That sounds like a huge % of people who go to gyms/lift must be doing it? Cos I don’t think the 11m people over 65 are on them for starters.
Are they including inhalers?
One million.
But it could be half that.
So 0.75% to 1.5%

I’d be of the opinion that figues would have increased significantly from 2015. Body image becoming more of an issue, not less of late. Therefore more people using it.
I’m not sure how they would really get any accurate figures, a lot of it is stolen medical grade, loads imported as they get a much better price here apparently.
I’m guessing lots are still “ in the closet” about it, but I can assure some are most definitely not, some talk openly about it on social media, there not competing at anything tri, powerlifting etc, it’s a mistake but only hurting there stupid selves.
I have no idea about numbers, Chris and loopy are doctors but why would you tell your GP?
As people want everything faster and faster cars, houses and designer bodies I can only see it’s use increasing in the future .
Maybe ‘cos you’re scared of the side effects and they can give advice, maybe direct you to a needle exchange?
Not sure
Pretty sure if you go to the GP and say “I’m taking so much crack that it’s making me a little bit poorly” they’re not gonna call the cops and probably try to get you some help?
I’d say thats VERY unlikely. Men are notoriously bad about getting help or things looked at, as it is. Let alone when they are doing something they know isn’t particularly great for your overall health. I’d have thought people doing it would get their advice from others doing it, seller or the internet. There is ‘stacks’ (pun intended) of info out there. Just go watch moreplatesmoredates.
