Pontevedra as GB AGer

Myself and the good lady have snaffled GB places for Pontevedra in June (long course tri for me, long course Aqua bike for her).

Any venue/course tips from anyone that has raced there would be much appreciated.

PS ‘Don’t wear your GB tri suit at every race, even park runs for the next 11 years’ is a given…

The run course was historically laps of the town (sprint and std)…a short sharp climb into the town centre and equal descent…a few cobbles too…

The bike takes you out of town and up into the hills…steady rather than hard climbs with some fast descents…good for confident bikers…

I tend to stay out of town on the coast - a short cycle ride in. It’s an industrial town but the centre is surprisingly attractive - lots of great restaurants…

Water can be cold…

Good luck to you both…

I’ve been a TO there on 2 occasions - WT Multisport in 2018 and WT Grand Final last year. Courses obviously different between the 2 but as @explorerJC says, the bike course will take you into the hills and the run course around the city center with an extension out along the river for the LD run. Swim is in a tidal river so start times will depend on tide tables.

Lovely city center and was tempted to go back for this year’s Multisport but decided against. Locals have bought into the events so good support around the centre.

I’ll be there for the standard duathlon, as @explorerJC has said the climbs are steady and descending will be interesting on TT bikes. Still deciding which bike to take.
