Pro bike sponsors

Ahhh… that’ll do it.

No doubt if Cube do a sponsored ride as there are 2 cubes available.
From memory Specialized also invested in Zwift in the last funding round.

Wasn’t really sure where to put this, but Sigma are doing Cervelo P series TT bikes with 25% off, and have a few sizes to pick from.

Don’t think the wheels and tyres are particularly good but can be upgraded later.

Cheaper than the new rubble tt disc ultra tri.

That’s a cracking bike for the money. Swiss Side were selling off nice wheelsets with 20% discount, for around £1200. with a total spend under £3500 you get a bike that in reality is no slower than the £8,000 model

Since this became the LCB thread its as good a place as any, she’s due to swim the 1500m at the Tokyo trials on Sunday.

I would think she wouldn’t be competitive for selection against the pure swimmers, but looking at the 2019 results I don’t know if there’s that much strength in British female distance swimming at the moment, some soft winning times then.

Interesting, and ironic if she gets an a selection after leaving the squad system. Not sure what that would say about British Swimming?

Would think she might have a better shout in OW? Maybe she’s going to give that a go too.

Will be interesting to see how she goes. I wonder if the disruption to training caused by the pandemic may work in her favour, as she will have been keeping the engine tuned with B and R even if S training was disrupted

1500m might be used as selection for the 10k OW too if no separate trial so yeah that might be the aim.

Never sure how much people like her training has been disrupted. Brit Swimming athletes have been swimming the whole way through pretty much but only those at Lboro and one or two other sites I think. So this year (ignoring the huge IF as to whether Olympics actually go ahead for another thread) will only allow for already established athletes, hence the change in name of the competition from British championships to “selection trials” to reflect its not really representative or an open comp.

I thought she had an Endless Pool in her pain cave?

Is the 1500m a new event for women? Didn’t they only go up to 800m in the pool?

Fairly sure Addlington got gold in 800 and 1500?

Nope, 400 and 800

Ok. I’m getting old :joy:

And yes, this is the first time the 1500m free for women has been included in the Olympic programme (and the 800m has been added for men, more swimming medals that’s what the Olympics needs :joy: )

Men’s 800m and women’s 1500m has always been a factor at other major events like world’s, and maybe commonwealths. Along with the non-freestyle 50s.

I didn’t mind 800m too much, but hated the jump from 400 to 1500m, that was far too long for me back in the day!

What was your event back in the day?

I remember being the one to have to compete in the 1500s partly because no one else wanted to do them!

Interesting. I always thought there was quite a lot of restriction in increasing the overall number of medals available within a sport. Hence in track cycling, they lost the 4k individual pursuit to add something else.

Yet here, they’ve added a further 3 golds up for grabs (M800, F1500, Mixed medley relay). It’s kind of crazy that there’s 37 swimming golds available, yet in track cycling it’s only going to be 12* when there are as many different disciplines you could award medals in.

*interesting to note that track cycling is also getting a bump at Tokyo, from 10 to 12 as they’ve reinstated the Madison for both M & F with no events scrubbed.

Yeah that’s my gripe, cycling could only get gender parity by reducing men’s events, whereas swimming seems able to add medals as they like :man_shrugging:
