WvA to retain his title in Gent-Wevelgem today? or will any of the sprinters make it over the lumpy bits to take the win? Would be good to see a breakaway group stay away with a lesser name in there but I doubt it’ll happen, although 7 up the road with 5 minutes gap inside 45km so far, maybe today’s the day…

Just caught up with it, great for him but a few people need to learn some race craft. Laporte was very poor semi-starting a sprint/attack at 1k to go. Why the hell didn’t teams like Lotto and Alpecin and Quickstep organise a proper chase, granted they’d be taking WvA across but surely you take that risk?

Absolutely, there were teams with 3 & 4 riders in that 2nd group. It would have been schoolboy stuff to make a concerted effort.

Great finish, just watched the last few kms. Yeah very odd from Laporte and the other teams as mentioned above. So happy for Girmay though. Really lovely scenes at the end. Only 21 as well!

Pog playing at cobbles riding today, WvA decided to train rather than race for ToF on Sunday, MVdP is there along there at the top of the favourites pile, wonder if Quickstep will make an appearance at any stage?
