Soudal Quick Step just announced another 4 riders have covid!
Whoâve they been kissing?
Brian Smith was commentating at the Tour of Hungary the other day saying that he was surprised how lax the bubble around Remco was with his girlfriend & mother both giving him hugs after a Giro stage. Itâs a sad fact that thereâs a whole shitload of Covid about & teams will be tighten up their protocols.
It doesnât need a lot of tightening, teams are already very much aware how susceptible athletes are to bugs & viruses - even without Covid worries - during grand tours.
Poor guys, obviously not needed at Le Tour
Wow.
Gonna be a lonely couple of weeks for them.
Guess loads of the support staff and equipment will be going back to base, too?
Right lads, hotel is cancelled, youâre on the bus now.
Youâve only got one back up bike between yâall.
And youâre stuck with one car and 60mm rims, so it better not be windy again.
No chef either, so enjoy the benzinaio feast
Dan Lloyd and Jens Voigt talking about the merits of the long stages in this yearâs Giro -
Dan: âdonât you think that the long stages early in the race add cumulative fatigue that leads to more exciting racing and bigger gaps bin the GC in the final week â
Jens: âno, it means everyone is knackered in the 3rd week and nobody does anything â
What I love about cycling fans is that the same people moan about both long stages being boring, and that the stages in womenâs races arenât long enough
Tao not looking good
GCN team said reports of broken leg and or hip but thatâs just from other riders involved in the crash.
Big shame for Geoghegan Hart, I was just talking with someone this morning how Giro still had some interest despite withdrawals in seeing Ineos double up against Roglic and then dynamics between the two of them for overall.
I reckon Pinot is up for this one
The weatherâs been properly rubbish for the Giro this year. They should have held it here .
Just been thinking that all afternoon. When last did we watch the giro with perfect weather here and rubbish there.
Then change to the 4 jours de Dunkerque and the weather is perfect. Itâs never sunny in Normandy
Cav has just announced he is retiring at the end of the year.
Lets hope for a TdF stage win as that would be an epic end to an epic career.
The rest day podcast of Ned and Dave summarising the Jonathan Vaughters Twitter war is hilarious - proper laughed on the train. No love lost between JV and David Millar
Jumbo looking to smash things up today
Started watching the build up from 9:30 and still going now. It has been a really interesting stage
