Jodie Stimson up to 2nd in IM Arizona with 164km of the bike gone.
6th off the bike but it’s all pretty close. I look forward to seeing how she does in what I think is her first full distance.
Anyone know much about Simone Dailey? Just taken the lead. Looks like top 10 will be the best Jodie will manage, struggling on the run a bit.
13th in the end for Jodie with a 3:32 run. The winner (Simone - who I’ve heard of but that’s about all I know) ran 2:59 and won by over four minutes.
Apparently she’s a Brit, is 37 and that was her final race of her career! Nice way to go!
what happened to Joe Skipper another DNF was it a crash or just sacked it off .
actually a fan not being critical of him
I saw a video clip of him on the bike shouting something like “where’s the next mechanic?” Didn’t sound promising.
Jodie Stimpson has retired after this race too
She was another I always liked, came across as down to earth and a nice person.
Their bodies must be wrecked after all those years of hard training.
yes she always looked liked she put in 110% ,think she got unlucky with selection once or twice that didn,t help
I watched JYD (pre-race episode) this morning and then looked up the results… saw the DNF. Wondered what happen.
Yeah, she’s put some hours in over the years for sure. I remember seeing her (and others like Jodie Swallow) donkeys years ago at the ITU Hyde Park races and she’s still out there racing. Winning the commonwealth games in 2014 was well deserved. She really struggled I believe when her dad died some years ago - he was always at the races with her so it really hit her hard.
Always wondered what happened to some of these ex-pro’s. I guess most weren’t famous enough or made enough money to live off it like the Brownlee’s.
Rachel Joyce was an excellent racer but just unfortunate to be around with Chrissie and Carfae, a little bit like Kat. Consistently great but just has bad luck or not enough on really big days like Kona.
Just saw Jodie posted on insta… https://www.instagram.com/p/DRJ-Uu0FHJ2/?igsh=MW9xMTF0cGlndmx4bA==
Have spoken to Jodie a few times at WT/ITU events. She loves a bloody good natter in her strong Brummie accent and was a favourite amongst a lot of us TOs as she was not stand-offish as many can be.
Wasn’t she a construction lawyer already; so maybe gone back to that.
I wouldn’t put Kat in that same bracket though. Granted she’s not yet got her WC, but she’s winning big races, won the IM series 2 x years in a row and has been a consistent podiumer at the WC. I do really hope she gets at least one.
I really hope Kat gets a WC but this year the top 2 were well ahead until they crushed each other into DNF’s and she still only got second, which would have been the chocolate medal if the other 2 had been a bit more sensible.
She is consistently brilliant and races frequently which is what gets the Pro Series, this was always similar on the ITU circuit, the people who raced regularly did well if the likes of AB\JB were missing due to injuries or scheduling. But in one-day race AB\JB would likely win if fit.
Yep very true. I did start typing that if Lucy and Taylor were firing next year then she’d probably find it hard to beat them on form. But that’s racing I guess!

“It couldn’t have gone much better, in this race 12 months ago for one of triathlon’s most famous couples Georgia Taylor-Brown and Vincent Luis”

Definitely one of the most famous. I see them fairly often if I go up Horsforth way.
