That’s a proper bummer as well. :pensive:

Skybet have now closed the market :disappointed:

How many drop out of Kona on a given year?

How many have dropped out of St George?

If it’s similar then I withdraw my point.

All change.

Blu
Sanders
Long

The ITU bust up Id imagined can’t happen now, so Blu will win it on the bike. Sanders and Long will pair up and IronWar it for the cameras and second place. Not really…I expect we’ll have a big bunch coming into T2 and Blu will run away with it from there.

Up to Kat now. :mega: :clap:t4:

I have a feeling Ruth Astle and Fenella may sneak top 10s as well. Unless RA has caught ABs bug as well!

Did you see how many pro cyclists were ill (not with covid) in Feb and March? Way more than in a normal year. Take a bunch of people who have been protected from viruses due to covid protocols and start letting them mix. Bit like Freshers flu!

She said in her triathlon mockery interview that she’s got her sights on the podium. Seems to be in form too

Facebook unfortunately

boo.

I ride with Fanella’s brother. :crossed_fingers:

Maybe. But I predicted people would drop out of this race in favour of Kona, specifically Jan, now everyone is bailing.

Maybe I’m wrong and all these people are really too sick to race and would’ve dropped out of Kona too, I will never know, but I reckoned it would happen and it is. :man_shrugging:t2:

Every decision is a cost/benefit calculation with multiple elements and it has to be a factor in my humble opinion. As Jan bailing out is also a factor - probably made some guys more determined to race, and some guys less.

Jan has a stress fracture doesn’t he? Also ruled himself out quite a while ago

To @joex point, Jan did Kona a few years ago with a back injury, and even when it slowed him to a walk on the marathon, he still walked it in. He’s not doing that in StG, and neither is anyone else it seems.

Time of year makes a difference, there are lots of other races you could crock yourself for if you go all in in May, including another WC in Kona, whereas Kona is the end of the year, most take down time after, so can afford to hobble through it.

All valid points I’d say and agree

I was just trying to say Jan has t sacked the race off with a cold the day before.

But complete agree he’s probably aiming for Frankfurt and then Kona

IIRC, Frodeno didn’t start that race with the back injury though did he?

Lange turned up sick to defend his title, sacked off halfway through the bike course but he showed up.

Anyway, I’ve had my little jibe I’m sure I’m not the only one disappointed but I’m all positive from this point forward!

It’s great to have the WC back . Trying to figure out how to watch it around the family…
