Ah cracking. So close, yet!
One of my mates was there for the AG sprint. I think @explorerJC was there too.

yep. saw @explorerJC a couple of times but I was vey much busy on TO duties over the weekend.
my “office” backdrop yesterday from Elite T2……
Ali is on the start list at Austria now apparently. Might be safer to just put him on them all and see which one he makes.
Useful having his reputation I guess.
(I do like him btw! )
i hope they had fun
very busy too…
my 17th and last gig…
What does TO actually stand for @fatbuddha ? Have seen that you do it a lot & imagine it is some sort of race referee role?
@fruit_thief - TO means Technical Official. We are the ones who deliver and manage the race from a rules, fairness and safety perspective. Think of it as a Ref with added responsibilities. At a major event such as the recent ET champs, there is a large team of TOs with different roles much like a business - TOs at the top who oversee the whole shebang and liaise with organisers, governing bodies etc, then Chief TOs who manage specific sections like Chief Bike, Chief Run etc, then Assistant TOs who help the Chiefs. And then there are TO Referees who issue penalties - all serious infringements must go through them - and who sign off the results.
At local events, a single TO might do all of that!
Fuck me, that Hamburg footage.
I realise it was a moto rider that died - & that was fucking tragic - but it could easily have been half a dozen vulnerable triathletes.
Absolutely avoidable.
Has anyone listened to the Skipper pod? He’s normally pretty honest, be interested to hear what he said.
I also saw that Tim Reed was interviewing his mate Glenn something, a well known tri photographer from Oz that covers all the big races etc. Might give that one a listen, as would be interesting to hear from someone who has spent years behind the camera.
Totally Orsome
Yeah they had a great time
Yes the Tim Reed/Steve McKenna interview with their friend from Korupt Vision is a balanced take and insightful. Only one I’ve listened to rather than just hearing people rant. Spent 10-15 minutes talking about Hamburg incident, then moved on to general issues that they’d planned on talking about before the accident.
Elites go again on Saturday, shame it’s so late UK time with the women starting at 22:15 and the men at 00:15. The relay on Sunday is at 14:00 so much easier to watch.
PETR VABROUŠEK
I think we raced together at Ch Henley one of the 2 years. I think he won
Wonder if it’s the same problem, I haven’t seen the fields but even half fit he’s likely to be in the mix.
Going to be tough qualifying and then being competitive in Nice at this rate.
Maybe Switzerland or Vitoria? Gives him another 3-4 weeks to get ready and still 8 weeks or so to recover and train on a bit. No idea if he is carrying an injury or simplyt feels not fit enough to get a WC slot.
Edit: Vitoria-Gastiez is FPro only.
He’s rapidly running out of time to qualify for Nice at all
I suspect Kona next year is a bigger appeal to him……………
Or just actually getting to a start line.
