Q: Tyre 'paint' before a race. What is it?

I was just watching some of the ‘IRON WILL’ episode that IM just put out (all about Kona 2024) and there’s a clip of Magnus Ditlev applying something on to his tyres in transition before the race.

Any ideas what this could be? To toughen the surface up to reduce punctures? Better performance in the heat?

Snake oil :man_shrugging:t2:

The funny thing is… an ai search replies “sealant” and you must be mistaken. He was applying it to the inside of the tyres.

Modify search to reference video and no it was the outside of tyres… it says there is no record, you are mistaken.

Maybe reduce rolling resistance but I’d expect that to affect handling but it’s not exactly a twisty course?

Maybe he’s a fastidious detailer like FP?
