Which is commendable. In my view, you can usually judge whether the poster is realistic or not. If they are not realistic, they simply won’t respond to reason - you’re wasting your time. If they are, all well and good - present the information and let them decide.
Is it legit? I often find people with a weirdly fast mile or 5k on strava is because it’s GPS erro, bike ride, left on in car etc.
They should be closer to 1:30 half but could just be never done a half since getting that fit
You’ve just made me spit out my Friday evening non-alcoholic beverage. Bravo!
Is Janet still an IMJ admin?
I left years ago after antagonising a few bullshitters.
She was training to be a referee the last time I spoke to her too.
I had someone with that username in a zwift race I did recently.
Surely there can’t be that many?! Irish flag if I recall correctly.
Janet Gibson ?
She’s still admin comes across as a nice genuine person.
Yes that is Janet. I always thought she got bad press as IMJ admin. She is a lovely lady in real life.
There is no chance anyone outside of the Top 20 will be doing a six hour bike split, FFS ![]()

I’m looking at 6.5hrs, on a good day, so am preparing myself for a solid 7 hours in the saddle if it’s raining or wet.
ETA: Looks like less than 20 people rode under 6 hours in 2019.
Now I know the course is different, but it’s pretty similar.
EATA: @Chriswim is a monster and rode a 6:16
He rode a 1:52 at Helvellyn, whereas I rode a crappy 2:08…which was massively weather affected ![]()
![]()
As that was 60km, I’d look to be 48 minutes slower than he was over 180km ![]()
Hence the 7 hour tops estimate ![]()
I’ll look up my times due to the conditions but I went an hour slower in 2017. You should be quicker than that I would have thought and still have a good run split?
How much vert on the run split at IMUK. ( I think it was 800mtrs at Wales but can’t recall).
I’ve edited my post as I thought I went 6.34 in 2018 but I reckon it was 7.34 because that wouldn’t add up for my finish time. (it’s early, brain no work!)
I know I’ve done the course in 6.40 on a TT bike but that must’ve been for LCW. Let me check.
I think the Wales run course is more like 4-600m. I’m sure I recall trying to get in either 100 or 150m of elevation every 10km in my training runs.
Edit - just checked. Yeah 400m elevation.
Got a bit more on my watch but you know Garmin and elevation! Looks like I rode a 6.36 at LCW and 6.58 at IM Wales. Didn’t have my watch in 2017 so I reckon I was over 8hrs on the bike
Don’t really know what’s being compared or why but I listed these a few years ago:
Courses
Bolton
Bike +2030m
Run +390m
Wimbleball
Bike +1390m
Run +280m
Staffs
Bike +897m
Run +110m
Pretty obvious what we’re comparing. Ride times on two courses with very similar elevation.
Which ones?
Wales and Uk
Road surfaces though???
I was over a minute slower than where I thought I’d be at the midweek 10TT due to the road ![]()
19
Given the lack of preparation many will have, sounds like the potential for a lot of people not making various cut-offs.
I think you’d be a bit quicker than that
