People on there who aren’t racing, fair enough, but don’t seem to have any plans to race … ever? Strange.

They are chasing 16-17 hours, so they are DEFFO racing.

There seems to be several people on there who aren’t racing … really not racing at all.

Irrespective of time 10-17 they are not swimming, cycling or running at all on 4/7/21.

If your injured, deferred or plan to at least do the race … one day, fair enough.

No law against it, but seems strange ?!

There are people on there that have never done a tri.

I’ve just walked away from a mong on IMJ sub 10. Got to have retul fit, blah blah then started an argument with me because I said, it’s not retul but the fitter that is important. Got a 10000 word essay on …don’t know I gave up as it was an incoherent rant about show me the science FFS.

Coaching masters swimming now, few triathletes, nice bunch and some fast. Reminded me that the vast majority are not like the dicks on IMJ etc.

Retul is a system that fits “by the numbers” and does not factor in aero in my experience.

Retul is a rigid system, claims all this science but doesn’t factor in different needs. And anyone can do a retul exam and get a jig. I’d rather the guy that’s done 25years with a tape measure and his keen eye.
Its not all about numbers or aero, have to factor in its 180km and a run not 50km on a flat city street, no point being aero if you have to move to base bar for every corner or small incline, or 60km into the ride.

I’ve met several people that I ride and train with, on there, out of all the thousands of athletes on there we tend to get fixated on the small percentage of idiots/ know it all’s/ straight trolls.

Being honest I’ve had some good tips off there, bought a few nice bargains and find most people ok, folk who demand you need this and that should be swerved virtually and IRL.

Sub 10… too old for that now

I have a mate who did a retul certification and said it was a waste of money. He has been a physical therapist for a long time and cycling for years. He is has been at Sky, now Ineos for 5 years iirc.

Plausible, well possible but frankly unlikely given that someone else just posted that a 5.5 mile run in 58mins was “awesome”.

Awesome means worthy of awe. Unless he’s a cripple, this is not an awesome deed. Good? Worthy of a pat on the back? A ‘like’? Sure. Awe? Not unless you’ve never heard of anyone ever running anywhere would this astound you.

Plus calories in/out is just a heap of lies and deception.

I’m basically raging against everything at the moment :sweat_smile::enraged_face:
