Race Day Nutrition and Storage

Do you mean provided on course? I’ve always thought that things like powerbar and others had carbs?

I know the link references Gatorade which is US specific but does have carbs in it and I was always under the impression the EU alternatives included carbs?

The Enervit drink we had on IM wales was about 50% of the carbs I was mixing for myself. In Austria you had the choice of water or carb drink but don’t remember who the supplier was then.

Right, ok. Looking I see that Enervit does list 25g of carbs per serving. The fact it’s labelled as an isotonic drink meant I though it was largely just electrolytes. Most electrolyte drinks have some carbs in them though, but I’d personally not seen them as my “carb source”. Maybe that’s my own failure in thinking though.

However, Enervit is not really that much different to PH. One sachet of PH has 15g of carbs in it looking at a pack I have nearby me. So a reduction, but it’s not zero like Jeff suggested.

Where are you getting 15g carbs? The table says 4.5g but I suppose it depends how they mix it? And quoting American measurements doesn’t help!

Also, look at the cost $2.40 per serving! I can imagine they’ll be watering that down :joy:

Personally for the last few races I’ve tried to use my own as some on course stuff isn’t great.

I think they had something different again in Holland in 2022.

But if it’s consistent then people can add to it.

The nutritional information listed on the box for a 20g sachet of PH1500 powder

Edit - which is where I am going wrong. They’re using the tabs, not the powder. The tabs are more just about electrolytes
