Should have put fifty to fifty-five km really.

I’ve just realised this is the Festive 500 thread. Potentially, a sure-fire way of ending said marriage.

Or sanity over the Christmas period…
It might save some peoples marriages / relationships (all that time together cant be healthy)

Meters?

I’m more concerned about this…

I thought I’d seen @Jorgan cycling down the M5 near Gloucester. Although I might be mistaken.

M5 ← Also a partly a number

My ex southern mate and I meet up on Zwift for “the hundred watt club” just spinning on a route nice and easy having a chat ticking off XP bonuses. Easy is underrated

Every year I’ve attempted it, I’ve failed.

I refused indoor rides.

Think I managed about 400km once. And 440km another .

I did do the 500km in the week, well, five days, previous to the official start date once.

Doing 165km in -2⁰ to 0⁰ on the shortest day was good for the soul, though.

I’ve ridden in snow, wind, rain, hail for it.

It is a great challenge, if you’ve time and have pre agreed it with family. Doing it on Zwift doesn’t count. Sorry. It just doesn’t.

I did it during the 2020 Christmas lockdown.

Roads were quiet, no extended family to visit or visiting & managed to get it tidied up with a day or 2 to spare before the weather turned.

Nothing to it & - of course - nothing on Zwift.

And loads of Rapha kit of course.

As I’m not going to be running much I’m considering a variation on this to try and keep me motivated and doing something!

Starting today until I go back (5th) to work try and do the 500km, yes I know it’s longer than the real one but we’re away for 5 days where I’ll do nothing, unless I force myself into the garage on NYE!

If I get sorted I’m planning on going out this morning!

Yes, I think I’m going to be a bit more elastic on the definitions of the Festive 500! If I can get out at all, that’s a win for me.

And that’s kilometres right?

Started the ball rolling with 69km’s today, it was calm but very claggy at times but probably better than the low sun blinding everyone.

@jeffb - no. That’s not the point. I once started on 20th. Finished on 24th. Managed 503km. But. That’s not the point. I’ve also done it after, finished on 6th January in six days.

Go sit in the corner and think about your next Audi TT bill.

I’m also losing a pint of blood on Wednesday which is likely to mean a couple more days doing very little. I’ll do it my way :joy:

I might not have to wait long for that next bill :grimacing:

The weather forecast looks reasonable for outdoor miles this year

An ex-TTer did 264km yesterday :exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head:

And yeah, it’s really, really mild :sun_with_face::raised_fist:
