RIP Fiona

Just see the sad news that TT1.0 regular Fiona , wife of Karl, another regular, died on Christmas morning after a 10month battle with cancer. I know Karl virtually, Fiona less so; sending my condolences to Karl at a terrible time.

I have to confess, I can’t remember Karl or Fiona but as Jeff says, very sad.

I follow Karl on Strava and his coaching business on FB but I don’t realise Fiona was ill. That’s really sad news.

Really sad, I met Karl at for a beer the night before the Glasgow to Edinburgh double marathon in 2010, next day we took the train together to the start, met Fiona briefly at the finish.

Thanks Ian, I’d forgotten his TT name.

Ah, in that case I most definitely know him. Spent a couple of wonderful days at ADITL in 2010 with him and some other TT1ers.
IIRC, he lived in Scotland?

Not sure exactly how old but middle aged, so not old enough.

Carlito and Fiona were TT names.
Ive sent people Karls way for coaching ultra running (he also does a tri camp)

I remember carlito but not Fiona to be honest.

It’s crap I have two friends now 52, and 62.

Neither will see 2027, one won’t see the summer but I hope I’m wrong about that.

It’s a horrible illness

Saw the post on FB really sad news - I remember the first time I did the West Highland Way race in 2011 they both came out to cheer me on. Also Karl did the Brecons race a few years ago where we caught up. I think they are similar age to me so early/mid 50’s.

Yes, in and around Edinburgh. I used to bump into them at events, but lost touch when I retired (first time) from racing about 15 years ago
