Solely Zone 2 training

He’s spent 600 quid on trainers this month.
He’s a good runner.

True, but I think (with much less experience than yourself) that would show quicker than allowing people to tolerate that chronic load for months to years before cracking?

I guess I don’t think it’s a binary thing, except in the acute instance, that you are either injured or you are not. I think your risk of injury can build up in many ways, your body can be deteriorating without your awareness, so thinking “but I’m only doing zone 2” is incorrect, based on a false premise, could decrease your health and increase your injury risk…

I guess for running weight is an issue too.
At 70 kgs ( I was 70.4) this morning I seem to be able to run and run … ( at 130 bpm)
I’ve been up to 82 in the last 5 years… ( I wasn’t any taller )
Bike power and even swimming was still good / similar
At 12.5 stone I was a totally crap runner, really bad, at the end of a fitness comp I couldn’t hold 12 kph for 3 kms and went from 2 nd to 5 th overall.

True. My injury risk statement isn’t particularly about “only zone 2”

It’s more along lines of if you always do what you’ve always done you’ll always get what you’ve always got.

perhaps…but a runners who trains twice a week could go for years…

if you don’t sort out form…then potentially, yes…

This isn’t a dig at “ heavier” runners, if anything it’s a compliment.

I think it was Poet or some other lanky giant type that was fast at mid 70”s kg and again at near 90… this amazes me as this just wouldn’t happen to me ( I guess I’m a lot shorter ) I’m still not a bad runner, but I have to be 11 stone to run, even at 75 kilos I’m considerably slower.

If anything I feel my form improved with lots of “ easy “ running, now I can finally run injury free again I’m obviously going to run and run till I break … moan … mend… repeat
It’s the triathlon way !
