Strava

Does it take a rolling X month period of data to make the predictions? If so, maybe a string performance/big week of training may have dropped off that rolling period?

Just a guess. No idea really.

Could be right then. I’ve not done many fast (for me) runs recently, other than an 11 mile trail race in October, so maybe the races I did earlier in the year aren’t in the calculation now. It seemed to be bobbing around roughly the same time, until the start of December.

Doesn’t bother me much, just didn’t know if some data calculation had changed, as I’d heard something about Garmin using estimated running power rather than something else to make predictions now.

That seems a bit excessive or strange, maybe a bug or check again in a day or two. I’ve not really ran for about 6 weeks and it’s only dropped my 5K by about 30 seconds, I don’t think I’ll be doing 19:xx anytime soon :joy:

Yeah good point. I just looked at mine! :joy: :joy:

I’ve not exercised for almost 2 months now. But my 5km prediction is continuing to drop!

Totally legit. Right?

How fast did you do your half marathon this morning? And have you done many other >16km runs in last few weeks?

If today was slower than 1:43 and that’s your only 21km run in recent weeks it presumably would update based on that being the best data you’ve given it.

Also if your HR was remotely high today I guess that would also factor in.

I did a 18k race on 18th Oct at 4.42/km av HR 169, and 21k race today at 4.39/km av HR 158. With 11 runs of varying distances (5-19km) in between at paces mainly ranging 5.15-5.30/km, a couple nearly 6.00/km as longer and wet with av HR 135-145ish.

Must be the data they have, but seemed a steep sudden change, considering it’s been relatively level for several months.

It’s not bothering me too much, was more wondering if some knew whether something like a setting perhaps in Garmin had changed.

Thank you for the input. I’ll wait and see if it updates again over the next few weeks.

Has anyone used Sauce for Strava, fairly sure MW22 & Daz use it on Zwift?

I’ve just installed it, it’s a browser plugin so not much good for the mobile client, I’ll need to do some training next

I have it turned on .. But I’m not sure it really gives me anything.

Few bits I find annoying as it makes some text smaller and more difficult to read.

Sauce for zwift continues to grow with the independent developers adding some great stuff.

Has the year in sport always been a subscriber feature?

You aren’t missing much! I think it’s only been around since I’ve been a subscriber so not sure.

Apparently I’m in the top 0.1% lifetime activities, but something like top 3% this year, and Doug has given me most kudos, thanks Doug :+1:

Apparently you haven’t given me the most kudos, which I find hard to believe :hugs:

You make a good point, I’ve quite enjoyed the reminders in the past. This is my first year not as a subscriber. I think I’ll cope.
