Not entirely sure yet. Probably the train. As you say, less about cost but when you factor in getting to the airport, security, lead time, and the same the other end, I think its just more straightforward on the train.
Added to that, part of the compromise of flights being paid for is if there’s stuff I need to do Thursday or Friday, then I’ll be available to work. So a train makes that a bit easier. I don’t mind chilling out on a train for a few hours either.
Separately, I’m in for the 5k on the Saturday. And also like doing a 5k in Queens the Sunday before. My boss got me onto that, as she’s doing the HM and there’s also a 5k. All part of my mindset of just enjoying things whilst I’m out there.
I’m also travelling up from NY, I hadn’t realised the train took that long until you mentioned it. Although I think domestic flights have less checks like passport control?
Some of the longer distance trains might want to scan your luggage at departure but it’s usually a bit quicker.
Haven’t completely decided when yet though, possibly Friday but I’ll need to change my hotel in Boston if I do as I’m not supposed to check in until Saturday.
Similar to yourselves, I’m currently reviewing my target. Originally hoped I might be able to scrape around 3:10’ish, had a few decent long runs in but the lurgy has set me back and not 100% yet when I’m trying to put effort in. It’s also a few weeks since I got a decent long run and my stomach is still grumbling a bit!
@stenard@Tupperware did you see the email about getting another email tomorrow to upload your vaccination passes for Boston? I found it in my junk folder.
Yes, I got it. Didn’t get junk filtered for me. I’ve already uploaded my vaccine certificate for the 5k and had it accepted, so according to that email I don’t need to do anything more.
I’ve just uploaded the PDF of my cert, supposed to respond within 24 hours. The NHS pass only lasts a month though but it does show we’ve been vaccinated.
Yes, I’ve read in other places it might not include the booster but I’ll see what they come back with. I can get it soon if required. Just depends if it’s 4 weeks from the first or last positive test.
Just need to look at travel requirements now. Seems conflicting around testing on entry depending on whether you’ve had it recently and vaccination status.
Yes, I need to look into testing needs.
I’ve sorted my esta. It seems to have got more complex since I last recall doing one, but still wasn’t too time consuming
I’ve just applied for my ESTA, as you say it seems a bit more complicated compared to 11 years ago.
Also looked at the entry requirements, it appears that you don’t need a booster for now, just the primary doses and the second needs to be 14 days before landing. So I’m guessing you are both sorted and I’m also ok.
But it does appear that regardless of vaccination status we need to have a negative test a day before we go. Unless you have had Covid in the last 90 days and have some kind of recovery certificate. I think this needs to be provided to your airline and not the US authorities.
On the NHS app it shows I’ve had Covid last month but they were only LFT tests, I’m not sure if this counts in the 90 days as it wasn’t a PCR. And that positive test isn’t appearing in the passport section yet. My friend had covid a couple of weeks before me but had a PCR. She works in the NHS and has heard that some positive tests are taking a while to get onto the app.
But worst case I’ll need to do one of these tests the day before if I can’t get this other evidence.
Interested to know if that is the assumption either of you come to.
Hadn’t looked into any pre-departure testing requirements. I did get notified I was entitled to a free one via my work booking system, but no idea if that’s on a fast enough turnaround if you need the result within 24hrs
