I thought the gains of tumble turns, in terms of breathing etc outweighed the cons of having no wall in IM?
The shoulder, bones & road rash sound bad, but please have someone with you for the next day or so to keep an eye on your concussion…& get off your phone!!
Healing vibes fella.
Bloody hell Matt, sorry about the crash, but pleased it wasn’t worse. Take it easy and heal well.
That’s crap news Matt, heal strong.
Bloody hell, very sorry to hear @Matthew_Spooner . Let’s hope it’s as minor as can be ![]()
Take care chap and definitely monitor the concussion
heal well Matt
That’s terrible news, sorry to read that. Cannot echo the others enough re concussion, it’s not an insignificant injury. I hope you heal and recover quickly but safely.
Shit Matt that sucks. Can’t imagine where your mind must be at, probably still got the adrenaline coursing through your veins too.
Rest up and leave decisions/plans for a few days time
Rest up.
Heal strong.
Ah no, that’s sad to read. Hope it’s nothing too serious. All the best for recovery. Must be so gutting knowing that you were in peak performance and races coming up.
I dislocated my ac joint back in 2017, less than a week after IMUK. Post op it’s in pretty decent shape nowadays. Hopefully yours is a low grade and you’ll be back racing before the end of the year ![]()
Terrible news, so sorry mate.
Heal well. Take care.
Sorry to hear about that Matt, take care of yourself and as doonhammer says be careful of concussion.
Matt that’s awful mate hope all injuries are minor and heal up fast. Echo the concussion protocols take it easy ………
No / very limited concussion luckily, no hit on helmet apparently just felt strange as result of crash. No break and no obvious dislocation, lots of ligament damage. Seeing specialist tomorrow. Currently very limited movement in shoulder.
Its a descent i have come down hundreds of times. It was really hot and i suspect less than normal grip. Since i was on tt bike maybe carrying more speed than normal too
Sounds positive in the main. Rest up and look after yourself, hopefully what swelling there is goes down quickly and you can reassess.
I now know what happened. Piece of glass in tyre, tyre sealed but down to 30psi, i didnt realise. Very fast descent with high speed corners and hard braking, front tyre with low pressure didnt have the grip.
This is a warning for tubeless users, its really easy not to notice a puncture… just terrible luck on my part
Good news is that i seem to be fine in TT position. I shouldnt have an issue running. Swim may be 1 arm crawl (ahhhhhgh). Potentially i’ll make the start at Roth, swim will probably be at least 1h30m.
So you’ve been back home and on the bike already?
