Swimming for Hammers and Spoons

The main difference is that the fin is the same on each side, so the fish have equal power both ways. The up kick (or down kick in backstroke) is not creating as much propulsion as the down kick and that is one reason the kick can bring the legs higher in the water

If you rotate them they do, as long as the back end is high enough

Thats a fast fly for 12, what was at 16? I guess you broke a minute eventually?

I don’t know Aimee well enough to comment properly, so in general times that can be the case when your father was an Olympian tok

It was hard to explain especially after just a single talk but seemed noticeable that someone so dedicated and able to push herself seemed to have this weakness, the father’s success probably didn’t help but it’s difficult to explain.

Well done @Doka

On the rotation debate, from my understanding from the Gary Hall Snr’s book, I am with eJC on this.

Well done @Doka - that’s some amazing consistency with your pacing!

ETA - in fact you were getting quicker!

Thanks, got in a groove & even enjoyed it, knew I would be ok when I got to 60 & still feeling good. More worried about sunburn than anything else.

Pleased with the pace too, was regularly hitting 1:33’s & 34’s, not bad for me.

Tough nights swimming for El Niño at the Arena National League, 2nd race of night he did 2IM. Only 1 IM heat, open age, so was always gonna be tough for a 15year old. Sub 30 fly leg (second off 50 fly pb ) trying to hold the “adults” meant it was going to be a harder night. Back was about 36, should be about 35, breast 42 about right and struggled to a 38 free! But a pb in 2:27.77 and came 4th, so decent attempt. Shows huge improvement potential, he said he should be 2.20 . Realistically sub 2.25 but 2.20 is not unrealistic if he puts it all together on the right day at counties in feb.
Literally 10mins after the 200free relay, anchor leg, held 2nd place with a 28.04 , which would be pb just. The girls went and he stepped up 2mins later for back leg in open age medley, led them out 1st place, only 32.4ish but hes tired.
10 minutes later 100back. 1.10, but came 3rd , obviously he "did a @Chriswim " as i now call it and is proper upset now. What does he expect, 4 races in a days gala isnt unusual, he did 4 in 35minutes including a 2IM which is a 1 a session event! Wasnt done though, AG medley relay a while later, led the leg again with 32.2 back leg. His pb is low 31 long course so definitely fatigued.

Spent an hour in car coming home being told how he has stomach ache, is rubbish at back, and needs a new club. Burger King helped
