The eye thing I had to stop the guy who hit me and talk it out but yes mostly everyone is silent seething.

Over the years I’ve tried talking or talking to the lifeguard but usually just makes things wirse

Out Today!

Not sure if serious..?

Assuming you are.

The idea behind Paul’s innovative training system is loosely based on ultra short-race pace training, but with fewer sets, and maintaining effort levels rather than working at constant maximum effort. By measuring efficiency through stroke count against time-specific goals and with Paul’s swimming technique-including better muscle performance-the triathlete is able to preserve energy for the cycling and running legs of the triathlon without sacrificing pace in the water

So vo2max efforts, lower stroke count is better sort of stuff?

Almost, target race pace whilst holding good form. So 17/20 stands for 17strokes in 20seconds per 25m.

One piece of the puzzle in the bag then

17 is a good target as long as you are getting 5m off the wall, less if UW are better. Im typically 15spm now when “trying” but am faster when i up rate but take 18 or 19!

Nah that was easy effort with fins

I have found a recent hard 50 which comes out as 18/21 not max effort but ‘strong’

Is the book a good read? Coach or athlete audience do you think?

Ive known Paul all my life, he coached me for a bit as well when i was at masters. We are very similar in methodologies, and whilst I dont set hard and fast numerical values for all, the theory is, to a point, less strokes are better. I did a little towards book and have seen / reviewed pre edited versions and its basically simplifying good technique, self evaluation ideas, and giving you tools to help coach yourself. Ideal for most triathletes and masters freestyle swimmers.
