Well jel of your lot getting in and flapping about. It’s still grim up north and too cold for my lidl bod to jump in the OW for a wee paddle :pensive:

Ordered a waterproof MP3 in 2017 - Just basic £60 or thereabouts job - headphones gave out but the actual player is brilliant. Use it for running/ bit of cycling ever since, so more robust than average little gadget.

Good job you whimped out of Cotswolds eh. With swim prowess like that, you’d not stand a chance!!

Glad i roped a mate in, as i would;ve easily bailed on today’s planned swim. When we hit the beach and saw how perfect it was we were both running out of excuses fast! Other than being cold, it was perfect conditions.

I estimated the swim at about 12-1400m or so i reckon. With 28 mins of swimming that’s about 2.00/100m pace, which pretty much lines up with my one pace swimming. Was really pleasantly surprised with my swimming. I thought i’d get 2 mins and have to rest/breast stroke, but i managed the 14 min out and back as a constant swim, no rest. For a carp swimmer, i’m really chuffed with that. Arms felt ok and my usual stoke felt like it always does. Just need to get a bit stronger.

Wasn’t as cold as i was expecting either. Hands and feet really felt it as soon as i stopped, and my chops went a bit numb, but was totally manageable. With it being such a glorious day, came out in a great mood (unfortunately back at the computer now, looking out at the sunshine).

Anyway, i’d say that’s swim training completed. I know i can swim the distance in a similar time to normal. So no need to bother with that again right?!

His strava, @gingerbongo ‘s that is, has some bullshit about his Garmin not picking up stuff?
Moaning about HR, too?
Probably because he SMA-HOOSHED it at 180bpm to stay afloat

LEDGEND (sic on purpose)

1500m in 30 mins you say?

So i’m good for OtillO now, or a channel crossing right?

I was concerned that i wouldn’t be able to so much as lift my arms this afternoon. Especially after i did an ‘upper body strength’ yoga session last night. It was only 15 mins and the main bit was basically a few planks and slow press ups, but my arms were killing just going for the bad snacks box on the top shelf. I was a tad worried!! But actually, they’re not too bad. Back did ache a bit from the super floaty Huub legs though!! :see_no_evil:

Aha! Is that what it is???
Just assumed my OW position was atrocious.
I’ve a 3:5 Archimedes II.

yeah i have the Archimedes I. Well i think i have about 60% of an Archimedes I, as there are so many frickin holes and tears in the bleddy thing!

That was my theory anyway. I’ve got super sinky legs, so probably a big physics battle between the neoprene and gravity!!

That’s always a mistake - Strava screws it - never touch correct the distance!

That looks alright but where are the hordes of grannies doing head-up breaststroke in every lane regardless of whether it is labelled slow, medium or fast?
