TBH I just really love being in bed asleep & prefer 9 hours per night.
04.40 - what time is that?
Also you are slowed down by 1 dog and 2 , neither of which have impinged on my morning so far.

0440 isn’t a usual wake up time.
I turned off the heating in March, when it was warm, for its annual six months off.
Following last nights 13 degree lake swim and it being freezing overnight, I may have been a little Cold
And the urination was like a race horse
The multiple morning need sorting, but that’s it for the day now. So I’m saving time there.
Dog walk is good - as it’s like walking to work/the station, so getting in some nice additional “steps”
Plus we had a chat to the guys at TSC (our LBS) and got a coffee
Nice morning thus far
You managed it then.
Pfftttttttt
Yep, not as quick as you, I was getting about 10 secs rest per rep. Maintained pace though & it felt quite nice. Didn’t make any friends in the lane again.
I have literally no idea how you are going to survive the next 36 hours , chapeau.
I think that’s the key.
Keep the pace manageable rather than suffering
Absolute +1, I can get by on 8 hours but function much better with up to 9.
I can do early starts if I need to, but prefer not, 4:40AM WTF
Planned on some longer 500 sets today in absence of an OW swim.
Got to the pool too late for 2km so decided on 1km and thought it was better than nothing.
Used the finger paddles and surprised myself how easy and quickly I got into a rhythm. 500 meters flew by so decided to crack on and swim the 1km continuous.
16:46 for 1km with a huge caveat that it was in a 20 meter pool
Enjoyed that though
First swim since December for me.
Arms started weak and within a few hundred metres were completely T Rex. Bugger all power in my catch and even had to switch to breast stroke in final few lengths as I was determined to get 1500m in by whatever means necessary. Intervals started ambitious (ha! 200m) and quickly abandoned that in favour 100s then 50s.
Tbh my win today came from still fitting in my jammers…Everything else is a bonus. Another chance Monday to see some quick progress hopefully.
3800m swim no breaks 1:08:53
50m pool with wetsuit.
1st 1900 34:00m
2nd 1900 34:53
I am really pleased, recon 1:05 may be back on the cards
12km in the water in past 7 days
Indoor?
I would actually BOIL in my pool in mine…
@r0bh - do you know if you can use a wettie at the 50m Aquatics centre sessions?
It doesn’t say you can’t…
Outdoor pool 10 degrees and rain outside, 24 water temp
I’ve swum in there once in a wetsuit but that was in a club session. No idea about public sessions. Wouldn’t recommend it though it’s crazy hot (even in MAC which is a fairly cool pool)
Drat!
I’d assumed the 50m pool would be a swimming temperature and not a bath like most public pools?
Northampton has three pools within a mile radius.
Two of them are just about warm enough to swim in. Which is brilliant, as you can totally hammer it!
26c most competition pools, where as public 28 or 29. The lido near here is ~24 so in winter it drops a bit and a wetsuit is good, or evenings in autumn/spring (still a bit much though)
It is. But with a wetsuit on you’re way too hot. Think we did a straight 1500 in wetsuits and as soon as we were finished everyone was leaping out of the pool to get their wetsuit off as quick as possible as we were all cooking in them.
Ah, I see, cheers.
I’ve swam in Boundary park at 26 degrees in 2019 (you know, the insane heatwave the week before Outlaw) and felt okay.
Sessions (apart from 9pm ish) all appear to be booked up
Chlorine levels too low, swim delayed an hour…hmm. Probably means the session will be rammed when the 9am people show up.
It’s BH Monday!!!
They can’t be sure when it’s ready so I walked out. Ramp test today so could probably use the fresh legs. Maybe try again later when the storm hits.
It was my first chance at a 45min set as well
Local pool re-opened this week. First session today - 6 people per wide lane with no overtaking mid lane. I spent a lot of time waiting behind people for multiple lengths before they let me through. Had to revert to kicking on my back instead of swimming at a slower pace (and sink). Hoping the no overtake rule is relaxed soon
