If i make today it will be 20 * 25 off 5 secs , 20 * 50 off 10 and 20 * 25 off 5 most with pull as its indoor so no paddles I assume and I want to save my legs for a run today also. Hopefully I will look good on Strava :wink:

Big boy set!!!

It was hard, furthest I’ve swam in over a year, 2k, avg 1:34 /100 tired a lot towards the end

I can imagine!!!
Those rests would be the killer with that one.

Definitely beginning to see some positive signs.
After the 1500TT yesterday, I had the same session scheduled today as I did on April 13th (so second swim back). Substantial improvement.

After 600m warm up, the main set was 200m timed, 4x(5x50) off reducing rest, 200m timed. Everything was loads faster 3 weeks on.

13th April || 6th May
200 hard - 3:05 || 2:56
5x50 (10s rest) - 49, 50, 50, 50, 50 || 46, 47, 47, 47, 47
5x50 (8s rest) - 49, 50, 50, 50, 49 || 46, 46, 47, 46, 46
5x50 (6s rest) - 48, 50, 50, 50, 50 || 45, 46, 46, 46, 46
5x50 (4s rest) - 48, 51, 51, 51, 51 || 46, 46, 46, 47, 46
200 hard - 3:23 || 3:04

I’m largely just typing that all out for my own benefit, to reinforce I am actually getting somewhere with the effort I am putting in. Swimming still seems like an effort at the moment, but when I see in raw numbers what 3 weeks of consistent sessions can achieve, it’s a positive reminder to stick with it.

Club swim tonight & another - different club - one booked up for Sunday evening. Can’t make the Saturday session - with yet another club - as I’m away.

Club swims are back on.

(Been feeling hugely lethargic/ill all week, hope I can bluff my way around this evening)

From my pool;

“Hi Poet

Unfortunately its going to be 45 minute slots at least until the end of June, but it maybe even longer then that.“

So, @Hammerer and other swimmers, if I want to more than 2-2.5km, is getting out for 15mins, then getting back in going to be okay?

It’s better than nothing and not going to be a major issue. “You got this”

So only swimming 45mins is going to be okay?
I’ll be doing 5 x 750m in the lake when it’s warmed up a bit (hailed again here today!)

[can you tell I’m stressing about IMUK :rofl::see_no_evil::man_shrugging:t4:]

Yer 45 min sessions at this stage are OK, just make most of them, maybe even some 400 pace intervals, faster stuff. Maybe more paddles if possible. If tgere are other options like double swim day it wouldn’t hurt

Do paddles. Don’t do paddles :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I’ve been using the toys a lot over the past four weeks, dropped them today and :boom::exploding_head:

4 x 400s + wu/cd seems like a nice simple set.
Been doing them, just need to work faster :+1:t3:

Cheers man :grin:

Use paddles in certain situations, for specific reasons, make the most of them don’t blindly plod up and down because @TonyStark 's favourite coach says so. :rofl:

I’d say in your situation it wouldn’t hurt to do 800m-1k total WU and CD without them and the entire main set with them for 2 of the 3 swims a week. One swim do something like a pyramid at TRP with no tools though. If swimming more split time.

Eh?

45 x 60 = 2,700 seconds
2,700 seconds / 105 seconds = 25.71….

So max is 25 x 100m off 1:45?

Don’t give me your back-of-a-fag-packet-maths. Give me 3km+ and stop the back chat!
