3km would be straight 1:30/100m…
…my 3.8km PB is 57:44, so about a 1:31.15/100m
Don’t reckon I could do a 45min 3km

What’s a TRP???
The Right Pace
(to fill up 45 minutes and no more)
???
Ok it’s not that
The Race Pace???
So long as it’s not that horrific pace I somehow managed this morning.
Sets like that will fill me with dread.
1:30s I can manage.
1:25s?
“Sir, Poet isn’t feeling well today and is excused from P. E. “
Target Run Pace!
Doesn’t Sutto say to use DIY paddles holding a breadboard in each hand because the ones you buy are for pansies who want to swim smooth? Or was that when he was teaching greyhounds to box or something?
Target Race Pace…
Yeah, I need to figure that out
15 x 100s off 1:45 all on 1:30 used to produce a sub hour IM swim, just! (59:xx)
So I’ll aim for a 58:34 (1:33/100m) and see how I do
I saw a session I like the look of, but no time to do it!
All @ TRP;
4 x 400, 30s RI
4 x 300, 20s RI
4 x 200, 10s RI
4 x 50, 5s RI
Take off 4mins 15s and that’s your IM time
Having put it out there in jest, I’m now actually wondering about trying for 27*100m off 1m40 in my 45 minute session this afternoon.
Feels like a big ask- no margin for error. Could easily be scuppered by Ewoks in the lane, pool guard raising the barrier 30 seconds late, and so on.
27 * 100 seconds = 2700 seconds = exactly 45 minutes.
2 weeks ago did 50*50 off 50 seconds, I guess logically this shouldn’t be much harder??? Although somehow it feels like it might be.
Sounds horrific.
Both the swim and the fact you’re doing mental arithmetic before 6am
Also, no WU or CD?
WU = a can of hard in the changing rooms
CD = jog home
Good point about the mental arithmetic.
I’m estimating a 20% chance of success, a 40% chance of failure due to not being good enough, and a 40% chance of failure due to external factors AKA ewoks
Swim Analysis / Coaching.
Worth it?
Or yet more snake oil?
IMHO yes, but only if you then take on board the points.
You can kind of do some video analysis yourself if you’ve got a GoPro or someone to film you underwater
Little benchmark session this morning.
Not going full gas, but getting tired towards the end
1900m swim - 29:55
Then 1900m Pull & paddles
yes and no…“It depends” Most of these £80 an hour video sessions I see very little point in, anyone can say you do this or do that, show you a video with nice little lines on showing how the arm is 3 cm’s out of place, but its how to fix them and reinforcing the fixing of them with regular poolside assistance that is key. What you think you are doing is generally nothing like what you are actually doing. Best off joining masters
You couldn’t have swam 1.0001 second per 100m quicker?
I’m ashamed of you.
You’re no longer my (super)hero
1900m done. Boom. (mini, baby, little boom.)
Still shocking. Dread to think how long I was in the pool (50minutes?!) Mainly warm up and warm down. 1000m with PB and paddles. Easy and fast. Nothing more than 100m continuous. Definitely no looking at the pace clock
Arms fall off after 50m strong effort. Better than arms falling off after 50m of easy effort last week.
First swim of the year. It was horrible … that’s it
but I’m going again
Maybe more if you’ve got horrific flaws in your stroke and maybe slower than 2 minutes/100M?
But only if you can and do the drills and mitigation to improve them, scissor kicking etc?
Also, the fact your battery is AMBER before 9am makes me anxious.
