Still getting back into swimming after my wrist injury, and haven’t done a fast 400 in years, but this was my post-daughter PB for 1500 the week before my wrist flared up. I’m definitely an AOS swimmer.
I think FORM works out the stroke count accurately, and appears to judge the stroke rate accurately after ignoring the push off phase.
Everyone is different… I never kicked in my life. I have a stroke rate of 24 for both my channel swims , or the over 850 triathlons. It’s about the technique that suits you. My great friend @Hammerer will vouch for this. Get help from someone like @Hammerer with the focus on YOU.
I would have been slower . I had this proven in a swim tank in the university of California in the 80’s. I still don’t kick and at 73 can still swim under the hour for an Ironman swim… everyone is different
I swim at Buckland Lake now- The SHAC- the friendliest and safest lake I’ve been to- and that’s about 40+ in the UK. Not only that, no “induction “ fee, showers and clean changing rooms, fresh food - even vegan food- and no yobs on inflatables etc.
