Swimskin Hydrodynamics

If Tom Daley put on a swimskin, took a swan dive off the top board, would he crush himself on the bottom of the dive pool due to the additional speed from the hydrodynamics?

There’s only one east to find out…

Still has massive drag in a viscous fluid and is buoyant so I’d say no.

Good idea, and I’m next to the Daley dive school so…Well, I dont know what, but feels like I’m a step closer to getting him to do it.

I’m going to say, Yes. They’re usually pretty near the bottom on the tv. As we know from aerodynamics, a small improvement when air resistance is at its highest nets the biggest improvement. Water resistance is massive, so I reckon the swim skin could easily add 50% of the “submerged distance”.

What sort of swimskin? Materials? FINA legal or the illegal body suits?

So many questions

Ah, for some reason that stat isn’t advertised. Only the 3m depth of the other pools so I guessed.

Wikipedia fame beckons you…
