TCS London Marathon 2025

Cape Town is the South African city that’s in the mix

Yup CT marathon was setup with the ambition to become a major.

No idea on where the route goes but the backdrop of Signal Hill / Lions Head with Table Mountain would be awesome.

Hopefully avoiding the hills at Camps Bay etc

Two Oceans Marathon route I guess - it’s a pretty tough one, don’t think it’s ever been won in under 3 hours, not sure it would work as a major…

That’s what I thought, but I think it’s all in the flat bit around the city and the waterfront.

Uhhhh Two Oceans might be called just a marathon but it is an ultra of 56km with Chappies and Kirstenbosch etc.

CT marathon is pretty much the flatlands of the city bowl and seaside routes at sea point etc.

I was aware of that

Sorry for the link, but they’ve been caught ;

Let me translate:

Monika told [MailOnline] “I’m truly sorry for being caught and didn’t think they would catch us. I don’t have the moral fortitude to accept a DNF”

He said: “It was all my idea and I don’t want my wife to lose her city job over this. I know it’s wrong and I’m truly amazed we were caught but I did because I’m a special kind of snowflake and didn’t think the ballot process applied to me.”

I thought no wheeled devices allowed at all. e.g. He could have still used it like a scooter etc?

not sure they do that anymore sadly,it was fun (especially for me as I was always bizarrely a very fast relative finished over the last 7.2k, only just got warmed up  This year I just counted myself, and only 3 got passed me after 35k )

They were pretty dumb running together with both of them wearing the same number. They should have followed the example of my mate in the post above and photo shopped the numbers around so that it wasn’t so obvious

The Mail article says they both work in “transport”, whatever that means? If either of them had been working in financial services, something like this could be taken as a breach of the FCA conduct rules and depending on what their job was could have resulted in them losing their job and not being able to get another in that sector for 6 years.

As it is, any prospective employer Googling them will almost certainly pick up this story in their search forever more.

In 2012, only 1 person passed me in the last few miles. But then I did come 443rd

Yeah there were loads of stats back then. Graphs and everything

I get ‘Athlete Profile’ on the 4th hit, it is me, so there’s some king sized poetic licence there
