TCS London Marathon 2025

I never realised you had to be a member of a club to get a GFA spot for London.

Nor me, seems unfair

I don’t think you do. You need to be in a club to go for a Championship entry though

Yeah that’s what I thought

I’m not 100%, I was just watching this and that’s what he said, so I was surprised. London is 7:18

Yeah, it is just champs you need to be a club member for (and wear club vest, number on back etc.). Did it 9 times from GFA and then joined a club so I could do it from champs at least once.

Ah maybe I misheard him?

Just been sort of called out on a comment I made about someone in the company who did the marathon, I said that his time 5:12 could probably be improved if he followed a training plan but caveated it with, assuming he wants to do another and wants to go quicker. I was told that if I could do better why didn’t I?

I think I’ve gone quicker in all bar two of my IM marathons but that’d be showing off

Just watching a teddy atlas boxing podcast, I’m certainly more interested in the fight game than triathlon at the moment but hopefully that will change next year.

He introduced his friend Ken Rideout? I think, he didn’t really know that much about boxing, but he casually announced that he ran well at London the weekend.

2:29!

He’s 50.

We all know that looks are deceiving in this game… but he doesn’t look like a runner… at all.

No skinny face
No pipe cleaner arms

I have no idea who this person is, and don’t want to come across as a hater, but I was surprised at the time.

Internal dialogue was really struggling I bet! Bite the tongue. Bite the tongue.

I’m not sure how to find the overall stats page, but I can get there by finding my friends results from 2019: RunPix Virgin Money London Marathon Place

So ballot results should be out soon. Dont know why it takes them so long. See some people have been badgering on Twitter and they have just said “shortly”.

4 months later - dude is putting in a decent shift in his training but even so, that is an incredible result.

In the ballot for the first time. Can’t decide if I actually want to be lucky or not…

Pretty much in the same boat. I’ve entered a few times before, maybe 4 or 5 times. On one hand it would give me something good to aim for and get out there. On the other hand I’m not sure thats what I need or want right now

you wouldnt regret it when you get there…

No, it’s half way around that you regret any marathon :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

So having repeatedly told people that the ballot results would be announced “by the end of this month”, they have now said it will be 14th March.

How bloody hard is it, they’ve had months

Presumably the number of ballot places is the balancing figure after they’ve allocated championship, GFA, club and charity slots?

You would think that all of those would have hard dates when they are locked down :man_shrugging:

Could the issue be the rejigging and sorting out the all the deferrals from the last 2(?) years. Plus checking those GFAs who did it virtually but had to submit HM times as well etc.
