TCS London Marathon 2025

“Not this time” for me as well :fu:

@Poet it’s the Yorkshire Marathon on the 16th Oct if you’re wanting to do a marathon this year

The reason for the results being late is because of all the deferments etc from the previous years. So surely the chances of getting in this year are even smaller than before.

I havent heard yet. Is that because my Surname begins with W and its alphabetical, or are they letting everyone else down first.

Im with Poet, not really sure I want to do it, but FOMO

I had to look up TCS to see what they do

It was still the Flora London Marathon the last time I did it

My surname begins with B and I haven’t had my customary No yet.

Like with others, I’m not that fussed on it really, but would like to be able to do it just once (and preferably while I’m still relatively young and fit so I can enjoy it). It’s become a point of principle now that I enter the ballot each year, a bit like playing the same lottery numbers!

Same, Im like a dog chasing its tail with it. If I catch it Im not sure I would know what to do with it.

I’ve got to be honest, i did it a few years ago and thought i’d hate it, but felt obliged having hit a GFA the year before. But i was actually really taken aback by it all, and thought it was a great day. And i’m someone that isn’t a fan of London or crowds of people. But there was something special about running along with that many people cheering you!

The year I did it was for much the same reason. Must experience London once I thought. Not sure I made the most of it, so maybe I need to go back. It was my slowest (only done 4 mind), that in itself was not a surprise or an issue, I went in hoping to run at a pace that I could enjoy it all the way round, but still ended up in a death march for the last 10K and as a result, couldn’t wait for it to end.

Most of that probably down to not being as fit as I thought or hoped, but also from how much time you spend on your feet leading up. The trek to get your number, the queues you wait in, the day before spent placating the family at various London attractions, the long walk to the start and more queues for bag drop, pee drop etc. A relief to start running and I did enjoy the first half, but I knew from 16 miles that it was not going to end well.

So if I went again, I would definitely not target a time, but target being fit enough to enjoy all 26.2 miles. Easier to target times at smaller events.

:raising_hand_woman:t2: That would be me. I had a place for 2019. I still have that place and plan on running it in 2023! Longest marathon prep ever.

Done it once before. Hated it. But I was so unwell and the day was a blur. Next year I hope to be happy and healthy and running with mates. So I need to do it once more just make sure I did or don’t like it

Are you joking???
I’ve worked with them on/off for years.
They’ve got some great people working for them :+1:t3:
Or at least the ones I’ve worked with are.

@d.t - Aye, Yorkshire marathon sounds good. I bet it’s tuppence’n’apenny entry fee, flat caps for finishers and Yorkshire Tea at’t aid stations

But seriously, if I do a marathon this year (unlikely given how my ankle feels after 3km earlier) it’ll be Chester :+1:t3:

A bit like ADT

I’m with @gingerbongo here despite my complete collapse at 33kms I had a great day

There is something very special having that number of people cheer you on

Nothing for me as yet. I had to double check I did actually enter (which I did)

My friend has been training all winter hoping to get a GFA this year maybe at Manchester but probably at an October marathon so he can do London 2023

And then got a ballot place for 2022 anyway😂

Yeah, my experience as well, easily my favourite race, the crowds around Cutty Sark and Tower Bridge really make you get that shiver.

Anyway, @Poet mtfu and get yourself a GFA, a doddle for you!

Not this time for me

I know who Tata Consultancy are. They sponsored the Hyde Park ITU triathlons.

I just wasn’t familiar with them as TCS :man_shrugging:

I’ve hated it both times, but that’s a result of exploding, and then being horrendously ill and having to DNF. I think if you’re on a good or even mediocre day, then it would be incredible

Ffs I got a place. That wasn’t supposed to happen. I was very much in the ‘enter, don’t get in, but can say I entered so that half-counts’ group. Crap. Better get myself some new trainers and some ice on this ankle.

But I got to do it. Wish I was this lucky in the lottery.

Do you get a prize for finishing last?
