Not my pic!
Isn’t this a road bike? I have no idea but just assumed so: Buy a Claud Butler Urban 200 Mens Bike from E-Bikes Direct Outlet.
This is a free hand me down from my father in law so I’m happy to run this one into the ground first, have a go at repairing things on it etc before I spend any money on a bike myself.
I think the far future will feature Zwift and a smart trainer for me, but I’d have to do a lot of trainer riding to justify it for myself. As you may be able to tell from my set up I hate wasting money on hobbies before I’m sure I’m going to keep it up
sensible way to approach things. Way too easy to start throwing money, especially triathlon (!) when you don’t even know if you’ll like it.
The bike you posted there is what’s known as a hybrid. It’s effectively a cross between a mountain bike and a ‘road’ bike, near enough. So skinnier (road) tyres than a mtb and likley a fair bit lighter, but it has a more relaxed and upright shape than a road bike (more akin to a mtb). That’s a very simplistic explanation anyway. Sure there are much more informed folks on here that could articulate better than i have done.
Yeah sorry at first glance I thought it was a MTB
Guess if you are going to be using that bike for events then it makes sense to train on it
The important thing is just to try stuff out & see what works for you
Balance a dodgy old laptop on those ply boards and an s/c sensor and your on your way.
I wish I would invest £££ upfront and get my moneys worth whenever I start a hobby rather than spending loads of cash after years only to move on to something else shortly afterwards.
It’s actually not a bad idea considering I can get a free trial (I think) for Zwift so I can at least have a play on it using some sensors and my laptop.
The ply boards aren’t permanent, though they’ll be replaced by whatever thing we decide to DIY in the house/garden next haha. Might be an idea to try and make a stand out of them though!
SO TRUE! Fecking conservatories!
Yep, my conservatory is so cold at the moment that I really should wear overshoes on the turbo because my feet are frozen by the time I’ve finished, even with this winter socks on.
I only bought the turbo in August in anticipation of future lockdowns, so I didn’t do too much summer training in there, but if it’s not raining I tend to carry the turbo and fan out into the garden and sweat outside instead
Who’s laughing at who’s pain cave now? Got a pull up bar set up in there now too, and a speed sensor on the bike which is making sessions 10x more enjoyable now, there’s at least SOMETHING to focus on
Very dark very dingy. Nice!
So you can get on zwift!
Not in the “pain cave” but now in the living room so I’m taunted by my weakness continuously now a load of weights and a bench have arrived, and the two pull up bars to dodge on the way to the kitchen, still I’m pretty good at just looking at the laptop and not feeling bad about my wimpiness.
That’s proper ‘cavey’!
Maybe some crime-scene police tape to give it that extra je ne sais quoi?
Very nice pain cabin. Is it Dunster House?
Similar. It’s Tiger Sheds I think. About 5 years old now.
How do you do fillings and root canals in there?
what size u shed did u purchase off interweb or locally
cheers
I think it’s 4.5m x 5.5m. Deliberately bought a decent size so I could fit the turbo and treadmill in as well as a desk and sofa. Prepared the base myself, bought it off the internet and got them to build it for me, then just got a local electrician to put the electrics in. Really, I should get around to insulating it properly but have only done the roof at the moment.
Ha, I’m a database programmer. No one would ever let me near another human.
