Wow - mega impressive @TROSaracen!
Well (doubly) done TRO
Right ventured into the great outdoors for local 10 on the AS21/c (four 90 degree turns and some shitty road surface for 1/3 of Lap).
Standing start.
Full of confidence after the zwift TTTs
HR thru the roof right from the off, even tho I tried to pace up the first lump.
Now dont have power outside…
So in bad comparison to zwift… Last TTT for 280watts for the hour with a HR AVG 171.
Tonight hr was 181avg. Time 25.15 which feels a bit crap for the effort (don’t have loads of outside times to compare).
Was mostly aeroed up. It got pretty warm.
Can I learn anything from this /zwift efforts? Just don’t feel I can get the perceived power down, tho the hr suggests Im really trying.
To add, it’s 2 * 5mile loops and my half way split was 3 sec faster. So paced it fairly well based on that
Sounds like you paced it really well
HR affected by the heat for sure - I know mine has this week
The heat could have been a factor. See what happens next week.
Does the front look particularly high here? Wondering if a severe lack of outside miles on the TT is making me sit up a bit or I just need to drop the front a bit.
I know this is going to cause some comments but looking at your right foot/heel, I would say your saddle is potentially too high. Dropping the height a touch would make it easier to get lower at the front and relieve some pressure off the front end
Definitely worth experimenting with that.
Lower saddle - making it easier to go lower at the front and then making your total frontal area smaller
I’ll try it next week, ta
You’ve got so many marginal gains potentially
Start by shaving those legs and putting some shoe covers on
Is that the original version 1 Speedmax? I love that bike. I owned the v2 for years, but sold it in January as was planning a rest year this year. Don’t fancy the current v3 frame, but if/when I get back to Tri I would love to find an original v1 Speedmax and set it up as a labour of love.
I got it in Dec2012. So I think its the v1.
Leg hair will be gone next week
I’ve tried a couple of shoe covers in the past and just found them a pain or flappy . Shoes are a 47 and it’s hard enough finding decent covers for winter. Any recommendations, I don’t fancy the fight with velotoze
What fight with Velotoze?
Put them on properly and they’re a piece of piss.
Anyways…I’m in for the J2/9 25TT on 22nd August at 9am - WINNING!!!
I love a morning start, hate the 2pm ones
Mine ripped after the first ride, asked wiggle for a replacement.
How did you manage that?
Mine have all been fine…until they break and you get Wiggle to replace them
No idea, don’t remember standing on anything sharp, only used them for 30 minutes as I DNF’d.
Last pair lasted about a year or more.
There’s a V2 now that are supposed to be easier to put on.
Registered for next week.
Ive ordered a pair of the short velotoze.
Leg hair trimmed in anticipation.
Saddle to be lowered.
Last week had the winner (carl shaw) start behind me. Next week, the junior that rolled in just behind Carl
Be nice to get halfway without being passed!
I had the long ones, tore them, so ordered the short ones.
I now use the long ones cut off as triathlon toe covers.
But I wish I’d stuck with the long ones - the short ones are a bit too short!
Velo toze is just technique (YouTube vid) and talc on the inside . Mine are two seasons old now after ripping the first two sets that I had.
Two TTs this week - 22.36 on the c10/28 club course on Tuesday,
22.39 today on the O10/1 Hatfield course - the battle for a 21 on a single carriageway course continues
First 25 of the season next week on the A25/34 and then the E2/10 on trike the week after.
Rapidly running out of weekends
It’s my first 10 tomorrow evening. Our sleepy little club event with 40 riders! Lucky to get 20 on a normal evening.
