Good luck!
He’s broken it up to sell it as he’s now retired. In his last year, he spent thousands and lot’s of time in the wind tunnel at Mercedes where he works trying to put together a first carbon trike. While he was quick on it, it wasn’t as fast as the steel framed 60’s Higgins that he used the three years before.
56:27 today. We got away with a light shower and as a first outing on a dual carriageway we were OK with that. The front wheel was flexy AF though and rubbed all the way round , so I’m reckoning we’ve got more in the Bank.
Sorry, I didn’t see any course photographers today and Kimroy wasn’t in his usual place.
The Levens is obviously still a quick course, a lad I know has done a 19:21 on it tonight!
Raining, too.
Massive tailwind out, which is about 6 miles.
Turning back into that wind must’ve been grim!
Few people I know up there, too.
22:05-22:10 ish. 15w more and 35 secs quicker than 3 May same course, conditions a bit better but not great - cool, breezy.
Still waiting for 21:xx this year, let alone the season ambition of 20:xx.
Meant to be my club’s 3rd evening 10 on Wednesday. Just found out it’s been cancelled due to roadworks. So that’s three events, two of which have been cancelled and the other one the hailstorm and temp was so bad I dns. Someone really doesn’t want these events to happen. I’ve got an Open 10 on the same course on Saturday, which hopefully will go ahead.
If it’s not Covid, it’s the weather.
May as well have a Foster’s
Yes, I’ve lost multiple events to weather and roadworks that just keep springing up.
Every event, open or club so far has been cold, slow, windy - couple have thrown rain in as well.
We had to move our 10 tonight to the alternative course due to road works. The alternative course is currently flooded so another week lost.
Whacked an entry in for the Hemel Hempstead event on the F11/10 in June. Can’t see me getting a start unless I drastically improve my LTS result very soon.
You’ll need a 18:xx the way things are going…
It’ll probably rain that day.
Or there’ll be roadworks.
If it isn’t Covid, it’s the damn weather.
I like a challenge…
A friend in another club, with a similar pb, did a middle markers’ event there, this weekend. Took 90 seconds off his pb to do a short 20. Well jel. He’s really come on ver this winter, mainly doing Z2 stuff.
Our club** uses a paper sign-on process, someone suggested looking into an online option, but it wasn’t well received. One of the concerns raised was what happens with no-shows. We average around 50 riders, but last week had only 20 with the bad weather, so they were concerned that the volunteers would have to hang around much longer if 30 people had signed up, times allocated and then didn’t show.
I’m wondering if any of those with online entries had a) experienced this and b) whether they have come up with a solution?
I would counter that if people had signed up and paid in advance then you should generally get better turn outs as those who are borderline and decide to sack it off at the last minute would be much more likely to show if they’d already made a financial commitment.
** its actually organised by 3 clubs and open to all CTT registered.
We have sign up/pay in advance, but allocate numbers as you turn up on the day. 50 sign up, 30 show on the day - they race nos 1-30.
Just need someone to note who took each number when they take them.
I’m with them on the size of concern, even if it’s 30second intervals 25 minutes between first and last rider when it could be 10 is pretty annoying, even being able to optimise the order is only going to save you 5 or 10 minutes at the other end? The problem is the large variance and large numbers, that’s always more demanding on volunteers, how much is it the same few people?
I’ve done it with sign on, and start sheet published but even then the option to change it when people aren’t arriving (you need to be at sign on by time X rule so they’d find out) harder with covid rules, and harder with 50 riders too.
You still in Swindon? we’re almost certainlt moving there soon… not that I’ll enter a TT I imagine, but might join one of the 3 clubs…
The way it’s organised here is sign on is 5:15pm to 6:15pm. First rider off at 6:15pm and 1 min apart. 75% arrive before 5:15pm, if you get there after 5:15pm you’ll be getting number 45+ and setting of after 7pm. So you’re looking at over an hour wait no matter how you try and do it, and could be nearer 2 hours. As yet there’s not been an issue with reaching maximum numbers, getting into the car park concerns me most about arriving late on a busy night.
Yep, still in Swindon. I joined a club (the Wheelers) just so I could enter the TTs. Lookin at the TT results there are many more clubs, but think a lot are race teams/invite only. I joined the Wheelers as their website seemed most up to date with the most info. They put all the rides on Team Up, seems quite a good system.
I have though just entered some Crits in Abingdon next month. I learnt everything I know from Zwift… so that’s going to be interesting
I tried to enter the Hemel CC crit series, there were two beginner only races then the rest were cat 3/4 and 1/2 split. Fully booked for the whole season by the time I spotted it. Will look out for it next year.
