He founded Aerocoach didn’t he?
Yeah, that’s right.
He was an Egyptologist at Oxford University before that

Aye up
Just checking in here cos it’s been a while ![]()
Last year I had an experimental year, I didn’t need to do multi sport so concentrated on just cycling backed up with S&C. The aim was the season long club competition, taking some club vets record & doing better in the county road race league.
I took up a S&C coach , and spent some cash on the TT bike. I went to see Matt Bottrill in theJanuary and he changed my position and front end.
I was stronger and not necessarily more powerful, plus more comfortable so found speed from a more disciplined position. I found the S&C really helped with short bursts of power and as a result I was consistent across the year and did achieve the club competition. In TTs I took my times back in the 20s three times for a ten, managing a 20:20 but no club records for me. In the road race league, again consistent, managing a third place fishing’s in one race and seventh overall.
For this year I have a couple of 70.3s and have replicated the winter training - so just bike and S&C. I have just started to brick run on the treadmill following a session and will start back in pool March/April time. I’m booked in on my tricycle to see Bottrill again in April to replicate my new front end onto that and then no doubt you’ll see the pink trike at some TT events during the year.
TT wise, it makes sense to do more 50s this year so if you know of a good one , I’d be all ears
Not quite a 50 and might be a bit of a trek but there’s a 47Ish mile sporting course race just past Newcastle airport in April I think. I’ve done it a few times, challenging but good.
Decent times last year, I’ve been toying with a visit to John Dennis for the new TT bike.
Sadly a lot of rides clash for me this year.
I’ve not done it since they changed from the F2/50. This will be a fast course.
Just entered two early season TTs. Both sporting courses, 21.5m and 25m, going roadbike for them. Too undulating and too early in the year to be on a TT bike.
Got a double header at the end of Feb, ITT in the morning and a crit in the PM should be fun.
I did the Haus RT Grand Prix at Darley Moor in back in September which had three events :
45 min sprint race
ITT
90 min endurance race
That would be right up your street ![]()
That is early, don’t think they start around here until april
Will have a look at that as September is currently empty apart from taking the kids back to uni
I’ve done a couple of TTs on Zwift recently; not much fun are they.
I prefer them, no wheel suckers that appear in the last 800m ![]()

There a handful of UK time trial courses on Rouvy.
The best of these being the L1010 course at Keswick. There’s a couple of M courses as well which I think is up @jeffb neck of the woods
Yes.
Based in Droitwich near myself.
Regularly rides around by Malvern on the Severn flood plains.
Once came past me like a train up a local climb to the clent hills.
The L courses that are on the A66 from Keswick towards Cockermouth are usually good and quite quick, good surface and flatter than you’d think.
M courses tend to be north of Newcastle, some decent ones but some rural and rolling ones as well, the 47 I mentioned a few days ago is an M course.
Local ones for me are T, with a few Y’s within a 40 minute drive as well near Wetherby.
I made the pilgrimage to Levens twice last year for the L1015. That’s a quick strip considering some of it is single carriageway !
