Should be kicked out for not having male/female equality, softball can go at the same time.

Football Olympic final highlights looked good

I just came on here to post my Olympics musings of the evening.

#1 was what a pile of ah*t baseball is. And why do they wear pyjamas?

#2 was how equally mesmerising, amazingly talented and super creepy artistic swimming is.

I saw that artistic swimming, very skilful but dull as dishwater, scraping the barrel putting that on!

Darts next time :joy:

At a guess, I’d imagine way more countries around the world play fairly sophisticated levels of baseball than rugby league! In Japan in particular, it was the #1 gold medal they wanted to win. Its huge there.

Just because the main global attention is on MLB (like the NFL, NBA and NHL) which is US based, doesn’t mean high standard leagues all around the world don’t exist. If the soccer European Super League had actually taken off, I could have seen a time in 20yrs where the ESL would have been the football equivalent of those US professional leagues.

Checking my own claims, there are only 19 countries with federations that form part of the international rugby league (plus 14 affiliates).

Sophisticated baseball leagues in various countries probably aren’t much more to be fair. I think the main difference is widespread popularity. I’ve played softball in London leagues for years. Rugby league, even in this country, seems much more regionally niche. Very few places where its played does it even beat rugby union in popularity. In some large countries, ie Japan, baseball is the national sport

Callum Hawkins and 30 athletes have dropped out - killer conditions.

Aah the old baseball is just rounders favourite, try standing 20m away from someone throwing a ball at you at 90mph and tell me it’s just like rounders, kinda hurts when it makes contact.

A few years ago the leagues in England involved a lot more of the country than rugby league ever did or will, pretty much nationwide, from Hull down to Brighton, not sure about Scotland/Wales.

Baseball is just about the 2nd national sport in Korea.

Nice way for Jason Kenny to sign off.

That was brilliant & Chris Boardman chuckling away in the background of the commentary was great.

Pinched from BBC, not a bad pic, very lucky with the logo, wonder how many shots were taken to get this one

Just got in and feel like I’ve missed something special?

Me mentioning Rugby League was a joke as it isn’t a true global sport at all. Around here, when they mention rugby they mean League. But as much as they prefer it to Union, most accept it is a smaller sport.

Again, calling it rounders was a joke too, but it comes from the same game. I know they throw it hard and it is generally the star batters that are steroid fiends not the pitchers. But someone being able to throw a ball really fast doesn’t make it a global sport.

Great tactics from Jason Kenny, a bit like Chris Hoy when he first switched from the kilo.

Just caught up on Kenny’s gold. Absolutely loved his interview. Seems like a genuinely decent guy.
