Trail running poles

So i did a bit of a savage session last night. Legs really aren’t hill strong yet, so a lot of reliance on the poles going up and down LOTS of steps (over 3,000 steps).

This morning my right elbow is very sore. I did take a tumble on one of the descents, but i’m sure i landed on the other side as i rolled out of it (luckily i’m pretty adept at coming off ok from pretty bad falls). So i think it must have been the poling. So more hill training on them for me in the next few weeks. Have another big, hilly run planned for next week. this time social with friends, so should be nice and steady.

Tried them on a lot more varied terrain today. Also, concentrated on making sure they don’t swing too far forward.

Learnt a new trick. Had a charging barking big dog coming at me. Quick as a flash, hit the trigger, flipped it around went to whack the dog on the head. Dog stopped with inches to spare. Owner very apologetic.

I considered blowing the end of the pole, 007 style, but I refrained.
