Trail & Ultra Running Thread

Bloody hell @p00key , that’s sounds very stressful. I hope you get your answers soon :crossed_fingers:t2:

Hope it’s nothing :grinning: maybe run down or stressed?

When my blood glucose and hormones are all over I get bizarre symptoms.

You could have said you didn’t want to meet, no need to feign a heart attack.

hahahaha I probably had a bit of concussion from hitting my head
Luckily I managed to get down on the ground on Friday before I fainted . The ground staff only let me fly as I was with my wife. Of course I spent most of the weekend being paranoid - but at least it was somewhere hot and sunny

That my thoughts since they didn’t find anything last time + I am in peri menopause that seems to contribute to everything at the moment

I’m sure it won’t be helping! I’m surprised they don’t test those things? Or do they fluctuate wildly during peri?

I certainily get a lot more palps (and tend to ignore them unless it feels really wrong like recently)- so will be asking many questions next week .

I want to see someone take on the hydration advice!

The race distance is always as advertised.

My mate Craig Foley is running this tomorrow. We both come from a cycling background, I met him riding with a training group in Wells.

We both started our ultra adventures roughly the same time. He’s a lot better than me. It’s his first crack at 100 miles. Really hope he nails it :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

I’m running the Lyme Regis CP overnight tomorrow night. I’ll keep an eye out for him.

Got a couple of mates doing the 100m and a few making their first ventures into 100km. So should be a good laugh.

I’ll let him know, please give a big hand when he comes into your CP

I have a local coffee shop acquaintance that is running the 100km. He’s rapid for his age but I think he’s hanging back with some friends doing their first 100km. His name is Malcolm, not sure of his last name.

Hope it all goes well for Justin. :+1:t2:

Weather is looking good. Everything seems to be on track so far.
Should be a good one.

Think this is still my fave race. Lush scenery, cracking course, summertime. It’s ace.

Do they go around Portland? doesn’t look like it.

I’ve just wound my mate up by telling him Clare Maxted is on the start list.

No, he sacked that off (permanently) this year. There were so many diversions and it’s pretty crap, so we discussed and agreed to remove it. It didn’t really add enough to the event.

don’t blame him, it’s pretty shitful. I can’t imagine doing that twice in the the full Oner. You’re running around a totally uninspiring lump of rock, twice, in the dark, just to make up some distance.
I’d rather go further in a straight line.

Word of warning for @tunster here for NC110. there are two CPs that you’ll think ‘how much fucking further up this road’. It’s part of the race charm.

I will look forward to that

2 runs so far this week, first back after 76 miles along the SDW

First run - easy 40 mins on the treadmill - felt like superman

Second run - 40 mins around Hyde Park trying to inject a bit of pace (all things are relative🙄) - legs felt sooooo heavy

I’ve done 4 or 5 runs since my 50 miler but nothing over 10km. Just finished a 6km gravel trail run alongside LO on her bike.
Easy Parkrun tomorrow then the 50km race Sunday

They should be on their way now. Perfect weather in Winchester for a long run, cloudy and cool, not sure about Dorset? Going to warm up later though.

Very humid when you’re under the trees today. It’s gonna be a very warm, humid and still night tonight. Barely a breath of wind forecast
