Trail & Ultra Running Thread

Oh dear that’s a shame - forecast looks good as well - warm but not hot with a prevailing tailwind

Yeah it looks great. Some rain due tomorrow as well, so the trails may have a nice soft top layer.

@tunster trucking along nicely. Expected at QEP in 30mins or so. W

I just popped along to near the aid station at around 48 miles or so. @tunster is doing awesome.

Said hello to Mrs Tunster to confirm that we’re not all weirdos on internet forums. I think I sounded convincing enough.

Nice one mate, is that Houghton Farm?

C’mon Tunster, keep going mate. He’s not far off 24hr pace. :crossed_fingers:t2:

Yes, Houghton Farm. I’ve cycled down that road plenty of times over the years so nice to go in the car for a change!

I walked up the hill a bit before the aid station and armed with the tracker and my binoculars was able to spot the runners.

There was a constant stream of them coming by - and all in really good spirits when cheering them on.

Brilliant. That’s where I pulled out in 2021

…and at the pointy end of the field Lucy Gossage has about a 3 minute lead at 75 miles. The two ladies at the front have been pretty much neck and neck since the start.

Crikey… new course record by the looks of things 13:43. That’s really shifting. 100 miles at 8:14 pace. I’m not sure i could do one at that just now. But then I’m about 35 kilos heavier than him by the looks of things. Which is just one of the differences!

Lucy Gossage first woman - looks like she smashed the record too.

Great to see Mark Darbyshire take down the record. His record in Uk 100s is amazing, he already has the fastest time at Lakeland, the Arc, UTS, NDW etc

Tunster looking good for a strong finish :flexed_biceps:

Jumped on the bike for an easy spin and Tunster has just over four miles to go. One final aid station then right onto the home straight. I don’t think 100 milers are for me - but I’m so so impressed with those who can do it.

Just saw there’s a video before the checkpoint - he’s doing good. Moving forward with purpose.
