And on they go. Incredible mental ability to keep going.

If I’m reading it right there are still 12 runners including 2 women, and they are through 600km? :exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head:

The women’s world record has been broken - by the last two women still standing. Incredible and still going strong.

One of the ladies is a brit, Sara Perry. I say this every year but I just can’t comprehend how they do it. Only another 27 hours ish to break the overall world record

Megan didn’t complete yard 93 so Sarah is last woman standing

Was also just made aware of this. Had totally passed me by when it happened.

Sarah dropped after 95 yards. From inov8 website

Speaking shortly afterwards Sarah said: "I’ve got mixed emotions. I’m quite disappointed that my back went when everything else was working so well. I had it in my legs and my head on reaching 100 laps, something I was really fixed on, but that’s ultra running.

ā€œIt’s going to take a while to process it all. I just need to catch up on sleep and then process what I’ve achieved.ā€

Incredible, what a race she has had. I dread to think what recovery is like. Its bad enough after 100 miles.

Also on the iPlayer until this evening (timestamp 27:30)

Heard about this on the Centurion podcast. FMD, how is that even possible?

Awesome and I think faster ascent than the Alpe de Huez cycling record 1120m / 37 mins? Although guess a cyclist has to lug the weight of a bike up too, so kind of makes sense.

And goes a lot further with the switchbacks.

I’m not sure you can that a ā€œworld recordā€ but a ā€œbest on that courseā€ unless it’s recognised as THE course for WR attempts. There are many VK courses around - all different with different gradients

There’s a world record for the marathon though, right? Independent of the course (within accepted criteria around not being super downhill for example)

I wondered that but I suppose it doesn’t matter what the course is

If the course is steeper (and therefore shorter) or not (and therefore longer) it doesn’t matter - it’s still how fast you can do 1000m up?
