Oh, you want to know about my last week?
Well, I got to work from home all week - so got some decent training done and also smashed all of my paid-for-work out of the park, due to zero distractions.
It’s amazing what you can achieve in 5 hours without the constant chatter and trips to the coffee cart, etc.
Swims: 4 Including two open water, pretty buzzed about getting all of that in.
Bike: 2 30 minute spins and a “longer” 42km ride at IM power, which was a total breeze
Runs: Loads. Again. 45 miles / 72km for the week.
Did a 30km run, barfed after 25km, last 5km took 30 minutes. Don’t eat tacos before a long run is the lesson here. Wore the Next%.
10 mile run in 65 minutes, felt like a piece of piss. Wore the Next%.
1 hour fartlek to bag as many KoMs around my village that I could - felt pretty epic about getting all bar one I was targetting.
The village is home to a triathlon club, with some races being held in the area, so the KoMs aren’t “soft” and many are under 3:30/km.
I found I was not hitting my speedwork targets, preferring to mooch around with the dog (as that is super enjoyable for me) so I have started to target KoMs and do fartlek sessions instead, as it’s much more motivating for me to get up and out and do some harder work.
Did a couple of easy runs, too. One being back home after my brothers stag party - which was an absolute chore
Strava tells me 10hrs 12mins, but closer to 10.5hrs with the swim recovery intervals.
