Training - What Training?!

Easing back into the training after a house move just before Xmas and then the usual holiday excess. Working out the best times/locations for training given a longer commute (1hr15ish each way). 14Kg above ideal race weight so getting that down somewhat has to be the first priority.

Just done the last Zift Tri Academy workout…nasty!

48 mins aternating between upto 110% and 87% FTP in up to 5 min blocks, going straight into a 4 min, ‘all out’ FTP test style effort… managed the 4mins at 4.3W/Kg, so pretty happy with that… but nearly threw up after! :joy:

If you’re a Zwift user, the Tri Academy workouts are pretty good, regardless of whether you’re interested in qualifying or not.

Have I done any training if I don’t have Training Peaks premium graphs and CTL to show?

Feeling left out🙃

Yesterday 12km run, 9k at tempo. Feeling a little calf stiffness during the tempo run and left knee a bit tender afterwards in stretching.

Only got 3.5h sleep last night.

Today Zwift tri academy half distance power something or other, first time a bike session has felt tough in ages.

Slow and painful run with my son today. Legs still 51% shredded by the Fan Dance in Brecon Beacins last Saturday. never had this after a race before. Quote from the event website “you don’t do the Fan Dance, the Fan Dance does you”. Can’t say they didn’t warn us I guess. Think the 1000m of descent carrying a pack has broken my quads. Hope to be able to run properly before too long as had been planning to peak then taper for a half marathon first week Feb

Came back from Reading Runners track session tonight. Main block was 3x1k then 3x400m with 200m jog recovery. Total of 15k including running to and from the track. Legs feeling pretty tired now.

There’s a difference between being running fit and ‘hill fit’ for sure.

It’s a struggle for me this week, think I’m recovering from a few big weeks over Christmas and trying to fend off colds :frowning:

With a bit of luck I’ll be fresh by Sunday.

No kids Jeff; your immune system is under-developed!

Lots of students bringing them back from all quarters though.

Although most aren’t actually back yet, it’s the staff that are infected after spending weeks with kids

What kit did you wear for that event? (i.e. ‘fatigues’ or sports kit)

That was “clean fatigue”, there was also load bearing option 35lbs + 3 litres water, er, no thanks

Is that a good old fashioned tracksuit?!
