Or down time wise?

Hmm, turns out my Garmin was almost spot on, 19:23 this morning, although I was tired and yesterday’s reps probably didn’t help, reasonably pleased though as it was a strong headwind for the first half. And managed second, but the usual fast lads weren’t there for some reason.
Really need to get a few longer runs in soon though, although the groin is nagging a bit with two days of running.
Probably be a double wattbike tomorrow, was thinking of going out for a ride but it looks like it will be raining mid-morning.
Jeff
Nice work Jeff, and everyone.
I managed 2hrs of gardening this afternoon and didn’t die, so things are looking up
Finally did the epic dread mill run, 32km about 3h10.
Took a toilet break at 20km, and two 100m walking breaks.
Nice 4 hour ride for me up to the Lake District. 2 different cafes for lunch/tea and cake, and then a 90 minute walk. Much needed shower before going out tonight
Hoping for another walk tomorrow, ideally Catbells or Scafell but forecast isn’t playing ball.
The weather looks GARBAGE for tomorrow, that’s why I took a ride today
@Matthew_Spooner and @adam are neck and neck on this weeks Strava Leaderboard…
Me?
Great 80km morning ride at an easy pace with the Tri club. Sat on the front all the way round, which was nice…especially the first hour into the wind
Managed 208W NP for a soul destroying 27.3km/h in one hour
3hrs
That’s dedication. Most I’ve ever lasted on a dreadmill is an hour.
It’s crazy talk, that’s what it is!
3 hrs on a treadmill. Chapeau sir. Fucking hate treadmills.
Progressive parkrun then 3 hour turbo today. Sod that on the dreadmill!
Cheers guys, appreciated but it wasn’t that bad. Not super keen to repeat it though
My usual mood ups and downs, but it didn’t get really tough until 5k to go, so I popped up the Mah Jong game to distract me…it worked!
I had six caffeine gels and four normal during, afterwards had to cycle ten minutes home. I haven’t eaten since, but now I’m proper hungry
Week tomorrow for my 30 k tri weekly mill session…!
Great work there !!
A bit of it is mental you agree?
Yes, deffo. In fact today reminded me of my race day mental battles, which I don’t get in training much anymore. I swing from “This is fine” to “This is impossible” to “Ive had enough!!” round and round.
The Zwift run thing would be a good idea if there was a reasonable way to chat with others, and even a remote chance it would stay connected.
Is yours a week on Sunday?
My next and last 30 km treadmill run is a week Sunday
The one after that will be outside.
I did a three hour t mill run every month from Dec - March last year.
I think it helped endurance wise.
This year I’m going for distance … 30 k every three weeks, hopefully each one slightly faster as I get lighter and fitter…
That’s the plan anyway!?
Hats off to you fellas. No way I could stomach that. Wouldn’t even entertain running 5km on a treadmill
As much as I can’t abide the treadmill, I do agree on the mental thing. I’ll always do at least one really horrible, ropey session all on my own in a build up.
My last one was a vk up and down a cliff, loads of steps, technical terrain, in the dark all alone. The guys were keen on joining me but I didn’t tell anyone when i was a out to attempt it to make sure it was a mental sufferfest as well as physical.
I’ll have to find an equivalent when I build up to my half this year. Though saying that, any tempo or long interval set is spawned from the devil regardless!
4 x treadmill runs, thankfully no 20 mile efforts. Mixture of speed sessions up to a 7.5k trudge…
1 x outdoor run. 11.5k
1 x swim. 1.5k
2 x indoor rows & weights
10 gels over 30km???
What were your guts like afterwards!!!?
I’d take 4-5 gels over 30km, with about 36oz of water (sorry, that’s what my hip flasks are in!)
I used to do up to 40 minutes on the treadmill for 400m intervals or easy recovery runs.
Do you set the treadmill to 0.5%-1% incline?
Or just run it flat?
I never used to like the treadmill that much but am pretty much forced to use it 3-4 times a week at work and now I quite like it. I think an after work session of 90mins was my longest.
I usually watch the trail videos on the mill screen, hey have them of Germany, NZ, US etc. My default option is to select average of 2% which means it never goes below 1.5 and never goes above 4%. The choices of av % are 2,4,6,8 (I think). so going above 2% you would know about it.
If doing a specific speed session, I don’t use the video and set it to a constant 1% just for some pavement ‘simulation’
Our work gym has no a/c. (there is a tiny bit of trickle down effect from the floors above) and they have no fans or air flow of any kind. That can get pretty tough!
I did think…!?
I had 4 scoops of tail wind 2 small gels, out of date by a year!
One can of sugar red bull, 3 x 750 ml bottles water wise.
In just under 2.5 hours. I think Jo is a bigger guy… more food needed …!?
