Training - What Training?!

Yeah, but I’m pretty sure I’m a hell of a lot closer to race fit than most here right?

I’m sure you are!! You’ve got the benefit of those years of run streaks in the legs. Any reason you don’t race per se (don’t feel obliged to answer that btw)?

Er, 'cos racing is boring is pretty much it, just no attraction whatsover - I sometimes wonder if in a few years, when I’m old and slow, I’ll regret not putting down some fast times, but likely not, as they’ll all still be objectively average at best, I can demonstrate my averageness to myself any day of the week.

One year at NSW Club Champs I had the exact same bib number as my finishing position. I was very confused when the results came out.

Got kids off to school, did presentation to company, had Prosecco.

No training today for the first time in ages.

Along similar lines, the first triathlon I did was Hever Castle mid distance (not middle distance, it was a cross between a sprint and an Olympic). The next year I did the full Olympic. I was convinced they’d got my time messed up as the outcome was a bit freaky…

Anyway, as for training, snuck in a 45min recovery ride early lunchtime today. Finally taking advantage of having my turbo right next to my desk. Continued to deal with some emails and Teams chat messages whilst spinning the legs. Can hopefully do a bit more of that.

I made it in and out of Newport without getting stabbed. I always celebrate by having a restful evening.

12km easy 50/50 trail road. 1.14 at 6.10 pace.

I say easy, it felt quite hard which is a worry 10 days out. Also got caught in a mother of a hail storm and had to seek sanctuary under a railway bridge.

30 mins S&C this morning, manly stretching with some core work at the end.

Then did the next one in the Zwift Norseman series. I’m enjoying these as they seem to be the perfect level so far insofar as i get to about half way and i’m wondering how the hell i’m going to complete the workout. I’m trying to work out what would be an acceptable bail out point. But then, so far at least, i always make it to the end. Going to try to do one a week as my hard, short bike.

I got up at 0530, waved at @APM as I drove past.
Arrived in Coventry at 0749, went for a jog.

6km at 5:01/km :white_check_mark:

Picked up my pass, can now access the showers :champagne::confetti_ball::tada:

I dunno :woman_shrugging:t4:
Hopefully @ed_m means why I’d jog around Binley in the lashing rain at 0730 …

… and he’s not taken me seriously that I’ve actually gone looking for him :eyes:🕵🏻‍♂

First cardio since operations nearly 3 weeks ago.

1/2 hour bike (well, pootle over a few hills). A far cry from the 1/2 X tri 6 hr bike I did 3 weeks ago.

All well, no pain no swelling. May try a bit longer tomorrow or a small run, hmmmmmmmmmm.
