Training - What Training?!

Sister in law arrived Friday, got sick and feverish Saturday…my throat was dry last night and I’ve been sneezing all afternoon…rest week isn’t until next week!

Hmm, looks like it’s going to be a tough week for me to train this week. 3 trips into work, kids clubs etc. Gonna be a bit of a juggle.

I’m severely tempted to give this 10 mile tt a bash on Wed as well. Even though, for some reason, it scares the crap out of me. More than a 100 mile ultra! :joy:

Yeah, I’ve done a couple of hill climbs & now that gravel race, but there’s something about a club TT that has always made me think twice

  • It’s gonna be hurty.
  • I’ve never done a bike race before.
  • I’m no ‘cyclist’.
  • I will feel like an utter fraud turning up on a TT rig but being a bit shit.
  • I’ve got a fragile ego.
  • It’s gonna hurt.

GB I’ve not done many TTs… I’m not in the club clique…

You literally won’t see most people after you’ve registered. Man up

It’s also FREEZING when you finish and then have to cycle 10-20km home :sob:

I quite enjoy them, but am now shit and won’t go if I can’t do under 25  (crap courses and road surfaces)

It’s amazing when some 18-22 year old on a road bike passes you on their way to a 21:xx

I just take a bag with layers for after. I really suffer with cold post race.

If you are going … Need front and rear lights. However pathetic and useless to pass the law :grimacing:

I did wonder, as I’ll have to shamble something together. Rear light is fine. Front will be a botch.

@Poet I’ll be driving to the race, as won’t make it in time otherwise. Shame really as it’s deffo within commute range. But Mrs GB doesn’t get back from work in time.

I’m actually happier running with lights, so invested after some early bodges.

How do they assign start times? I’ve been first and last before, didn’t like those. Nice mid pack, esp if I can start behind someone I know I can catch (ego issue you say).

Last week I’d hoped to catch the 3 starting ahead… Whilst trying to keep the man starting 3 mins behind…behind!!

Its like zwift, in your own head

Well you get to say hello to a few as they pass, and it’s an out and back on a small road so everyone on the course to see too.

But you’ll be right in the middle of the finish times, and look at the results, the road bikes are faster than the TT, so it’s pretty clear that the fast TT’ers aren’t there, just people doing right around the time you’ll do.

Finding the crisp 5 pound note would be my problem.

Going to have to do some actual planning myself for the next few weeks. Got a massage at 5 tomorrow and won’t fancy running or cycling after, but will probably have a swim.

Wednesday looks bad for work but will hopefully finish before 5 and might get a couple of hours on the bike. I could get changed before the meeting!

Thursday I’m now supposed to be helping the club with the race they are organising. I also like at least a day between longer run and bike efforts these days otherwise I really feel it.

Then going away for a few days with the GF in a week, will take my run and swim kit though. And got an actual triathlon when I get back!

Yeah, I’ve done that. Lounging around trying to rest and not work.

Kicked out one(two) of my additional commute rides.

Still have a 50min run tonight. And 3hrs training tomorrow. Hmm.

Trained twice today.

Up at 4, steady 5km lumpy run.

30 minute spin class at lunch. Soundtrack was 90’s rock :love_you_gesture::love_you_gesture::love_you_gesture:.

In the spirit of 80:20, did 22 minutes and 50 seconds of training today, all zone 4+

if the maths are right, tomorrow that means I get to take it easy for an hour and a half.

First sess was in the pool where I just swam 50 metres as hard as I could, recovered for ages, and then went again. I was going to do 20 but after 8 thought stuff this for a game of soldiers. 5 minutes and 2 seconds of actual swimming. Just as well there’s no entry fee.

Second was in the gym on a treadmill. Bashed out a 5km at 0%.
