Training - What Training?!

I suspect a lot of ultra runners are ultra runners because they love running, so would prefer to run than bike or swim. I suspect cross training is only used to avoid or rehab from injury.

Did 30min S&C today (all mat, no weights). Just had the mail that Bramley 20miler has been cancelled due to impending weather. So will rest my calf/quad, today and do an easy Zwift and see how it is for the weekend.

Still going to do 20 miles?

Probably 28-30km instead.

More progression on the run last night. I’ve now run four times:
5k last Wednesday after physio gave the green light
6k on Friday
7k on Monday
8k last night - as a commute, so with a light backpack.

Foot is feeling pretty good. Legs are feeling it though. Right quad was pretty sore by the time I got home last night. It’s amazing how the muscles can become so unconditioned to running in under 8 weeks.

oh yes!

Crap weather this week, so no commuting. Been running at lunch instead and avoiding branches being blown off trees
13k Monday, 18k Tuesday and 15k yesterday, which included 7k of intervals on the track

Legs were really stiff before intervals, and I was not feeling like it at all, however, Once I got into it, it was fine,. set a new Garmin Threshold pace of 4:06 @ 169bpm, that’s 2 weeks in a row that I have set a new LTHR. Got home and went straight onto Zwift, to ride the Alpe. Ended up riding a bit harder than planned.

CTL now at 125

I’m genuinely excited for your Lanza performance though. It all seems to be trending up atm!

Today might end up being rest day, feeling tired after a poor sleep and hassly day, supposed to be running reps.

That’s a deep tank you have there Matthias.

And I was dragging right from the bottom of it last night

Thanks for the encouragement.

You’re pretty much shaddowing me on the swim and bike, get some longer runs in, and I think you will have a pretty strong race in Wales

Yeah that’s the plan.

Not really running too far on purpose at the moment. September still seems like a long time away

Got a snowboard holiday in Colorado at the beginning of April. As I said to Poet in the IMUK thread I’ll start to get a touch more serious in May
