So tired, train commute then a battle of wills over changing into lycra.
Yeah that Oulles climb is great, did it in summer and enjoyed it. Sketchy descent mind ![]()
The Notre Damn climb is cool with a nice rock overhang, but make sure you ascend from Vilard Notre Damn first, much nicer/safer.
The Sarenne they are doing in the tour is good but the road from about bend 6 of the Alpe to the Sarenne is a proper nice balcony road.
are you definitely doing ADH tri again @jeffb ?
(for some reason that came out as ADHD tri)
Oh yeah. Into the big numbers now.
A 10km run.
Boom. ![]()
Yeah, entered the duathlon and long course
thereās a gap day between.
Iād like to stay a few days but need to see as itās awkward with holidays from work as itās the start of our new holiday year and I need to make them last 12 months ![]()
I canāt get the leave this summer , but increasingly that drive puts me off. So far. Last few times we have been to the Alps we have flown to Geneva or Grenoble but thatās a bit of a hassle too with bikes and hire cars ![]()
Maybe would feel differently if no job to rush home for ![]()

The real low point of my one and only escapade at AdH Tri, was my daughter being sick in the back of the car after Iād driven through the night, while a couple of gendarmes were telling me off for stopping to get out the car and find something to clear up the mess. Fun times!
52 minutes - 2 sets of 8x 30 seconds anaerobic (as per picture earlier in thread.)
10km easy with 4x 20" strides
Currently procrastinating about how to get there, could drive but itās 5 hours from here to the tunnel and then back. Might fly to Milan and drive so I can possibly stop at Turin. Need to get it thought out quite soon. I drove in 2011 but was there for nearly 2 weeks as I stopped in Kent for an Olympic distance tri and also had about 4 days around Ventoux.
But that was the year my car broke down on the autoroute and I got a hire car from Paris to Calais, ferry, then another hire car home. The (previous) Mondeo appeared a few weeks later with a knackered clutch!
6k easy run
40 mins strength
@jeffb I think Greta put a word in upstairs. Someone is trying to tell you to stick to local sprints, preferably within walking distance of your house ![]()
Sounds like a pretty standard @jeffb trip ![]()
I probably should have taken that as a warning from Greta if I continued to travel ![]()
I reset my training plan in mid-Nov aiming for London Marathon end of April and Outlaw Half three weeks after. Main aim was to start swimming at least once per week, build consistency in both bike and run mileage along with extending a weekly long run.
Whilst Iāve not hit all of the sessions and Iām not quite running enough mid-week, I am really pleased with the increased consistency. Some small gaps to focus on filling, especially with runs at 6-10km.
Edit: I also know that the chart below includes barely any TSS from swimming or weight training, but itās about direction not absolute numbers.
5.5km tempo run at lunch.
Swam.
Hit the sack last night at 8 slept to 12, then awake all night. Fffs.
Never going to get a run in.
9 hours 19 minutes sleep after last nights swim. Was pleased to finish it and was definitely hanging on for dear life towards the end.
That is mega sleep.
With kids getting older, theyāre now up until 10 so harder for me to get more than 7.5 hours
Sleep score was āonlyā 86. Garmin has me as massively overreaching and thatās with only a handful of not particularly taxing sessionsā¦
Mine are typically asleep by 8 - 8:30 have been waking the buggers up in the morning since theyāve been back at school.
Iāve had it with most of the stats on Garmin, back to just using it for exercise tracking.
Not a vote against them, more that I donāt really think it was helping anymore, and Iām tired of wearing a Garmin all the time.
