I don’t think I’d get much business.
I think it was a joke.
It is a hard event from a weather point of view.
I did the same. It was literally freezing just before the start and mist/fog and 20C later.
An hour in it was clear and just go hotter.
Nice work well played.
TriTalk etiquette upon seeing a posted picture is to completely ignore the point, and pick holes in irrelevant artefacts. Much like the UCI and rulings on socks and zips.
I.e. The correct response to any new bike picture is “When are you weeding the drive?” Or “Patio Magic is on discount this week.”
Dragon next month? … entries closed tomorrow, if all places are not already taken.
You’ve got the Fred in the legs… train for a month and go for it (the Dragon?)
298km now (was 305km but 300km in reality) I think there is a Grand Fondo option about 240km.
I did it 6 weeks after the Fred… it is another iconic event.
This is excellent point… its frecking freezing here so I might post some old pictures to get a roasting.. i need warming up.
I had looked at it tbh, but it clashes with the Slateman tri on that weekend, which I’ve already entered the half distance. Otherwise I would have considered it.
I’m surprised no one’s pointed out I hadn’t shaved my legs.
Or your chest.
Frankly I don’t see @APM signing up for your OF without a bit more effort, particularly if you’re going to keep your shoes on ![]()
PS How steep is that hill that the guys behind are walking? ![]()
It makes Bologna look flat! (and I’m not joking!)
I could try going shoe-less, grow my nails and use them as talons to grip the pedals. I thought toe covers might be a bit frowned upon, so I’ll make sure to not wear them in future, if I want to build a brand.
I think the hill is about 25% at that point, or just before there. It’s marketed as being “33%” but that’s just on the inside of the hairpin, which you can avoid, so long as you don’t completely take the wrong line. I think the issue is people overdoing it earlier in the day, and having gearing that doesn’t meet their fitness levels for that point in the ride (was 142k in and about 3000m climbing done at that point)
It’s properly terrifying steep. You think your car can’t make it up, nevermind cycling up ![]()
Day 2 so far
2:10 8.1km.
Students dropping like flies
Gym first thing.
Tested the calf out with a steady 1.5km treadmill run at lunch. All good so far.
I’ve gone back to Strava so I might reduce my posts here. Is everyone in Strava/in the TT group?
Biked
Didn’t get any anaerobic credit from Garmin.
Biked and got my club kit - a year late:
We’ll see if I can manage to become a regular club rider…
Some just rewards then!
Well done sir, true endurance that.
30 minute spin class. That’s it for today.
Trail run last night.![]()

Then got battered. ![]()

It really shows how much the training has been paying off.
Walked out at 22:00 list night and didn’t really feel I’d done 45km
Quiz was interesting
Wasn’t very busy was I was getting ready. Only about 20 people.
However, the bar started to fill up as a wake came in.
Was worried it was going to be awkward, but in the end, they joined in and it was a blast
