Training - What Training?!

Absolutely nothing on Saturday, partly planned, partly ‘life’. 10km easy 55min jog yesterday.

That’s pretty much it until next Saturday’s Race to the Stones. Maybe do a 5km mid week and lots of hip/strength work.

Weird week for me.

Biggest mileage since April with 71.6km, but all done on Mon-Wed! Didn’t manage to get out again for the rest of the week! Aiming for 60-70 if possible this week, but a bit more spread out and with at least one proper session.

Decent week for me:

7hrs 45mins

Swim: One :sob:
Drills 35mins 1.75km
I eat out and not well when working away, which feels good at the time, but I feel rough in the AM, so I skipped the swim - having had to evacuate the pool previously :see_no_evil:
Bloody work deadlines meant I missed an OW swim on Thursday AM.
I’d planned on doing 3-3.5km, too :confounded:

Bike: Two
As planned - one fifty miler with some rollers and a little hour spin.

Run: Five
Fartlek Strava KoM bagging, a few fillers, a tempo and an above average 10km (36:34 @ 184cm, 79.7kg)
That’s bang on the predicted time from my Half Marathon time in March.
If I can live a Monk-like existence between now and October, drop 15lbs, then my stretch goal might be in reach…

…I did notice at the start and finish line yesterday that I am noticeably larger than my peers

Bit of a rubbish week for me also.

4 days of bike commuting, a couple of short runs then a hilly 10km run in the sun.
2 missed swims and no long run/bike but hey, life just gets in the way sometimes.

Without a road bike until Sunday, could be tempted to use my father in laws mountain bike but quite unlikely. Going to spend the week getting some hilly runs as I’ve no choice about that round this area of Cornwall and some quality swims in. Absolutely have to get a decent ride in on Sunday though!

Only one more long run & ride to go  probably two more 4k+ swims.

OK week for me managed my longest swim of the year by adding on 1.2km to the Friday mastes session and longest run of the year with a 28km yesterday in 2:28 (ETA: run at just faster than IM pace). Was blocked on my Saturday 4 hr ride due to a variety of family stuff but will try and get that in one afternoon this week. Total of 10:30 for the week.

peak week of smidge over a whooping 12.5 hours.
(with about 1 1/2 of stretching/rolling/conditioning on top of that.)
I’ve noticed that although my longest sessions are 'long enough\ (5 hours on the bike, 4km swim and 2.5hr run) they all come in different weeks, so no one week is much higher volume than another.
Basically I’m just not training enough

Pretty similar for, hopefully get 2 longer swims in this week and next

Weather forecast for this week isn’t great so my long run will probably be wet :frowning:

Jeff

After no cycling almost all year (70.3 Elsinore was my longest ride of the year), the Etape has suddenly loomed large. Cue 7/9 days with cycling involved, including a miserable long ride yesterday in persistent drizzle. It was “of distance”, just that the Etape will be 3x the climbing :see_no_evil:

60k ride last Saturday
90min turbo Monday
Fatigued FTP test, plus extended cool down Tuesday (8w increase)
8xc4min hill reps Wednesday
60min recovery (fasted :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:) Thursday
3x15 tempo turbo Friday
138k ride yesterday

Total of 15hrs time on the bike over that 9 day period. That’s as much saddle time as I’d achieved since w/c 20/05/19, up to last Saturday, including a HIM ride

Did you fast for much of it?

Did you miss my clear reference?!

I’m literally falling asleep here, combination of hot office and tiredness.

11.5 hours…
Should have been 10…

No niggles, apart from di2 and wetsuit woes life is good !

I rode my bike - for only the third time all year, I was rubbish, it was hard, and my HR was so low (150bpm for the 7minute “max” effort up Box Hill - 168 was the norm for that sort of effort at the end of the right) In watts per beat term it’s not bad at all historically, but of course that’s meaningless if I can’t actually work any harder!

Penultimate week before IMCH and was meant to be tapering but ended up doing 10 hours. That said, all low intensity and relaxed. Starting to feel a bit less fatigued and looking forward to next Sunday.

How did race to the stones go fatpom? 100km has never been my radar, I prefer more like 5km… but the quality and organisation of this one looked really good. Couldn’t believe how big the field was, also how many women doing it.

My son is walking like a Yeti now

Like this…though I am not @FatPom, I thought I might chime in for him

Hope everything goes okay for IMCH @wheezy

Oh, you want to know about my last week?
Well, I got to work from home all week - so got some decent training done and also smashed all of my paid-for-work out of the park, due to zero distractions.
It’s amazing what you can achieve in 5 hours without the constant chatter and trips to the coffee cart, etc.

Swims: 4 :open_mouth: Including two open water, pretty buzzed about getting all of that in.
Bike: 2 30 minute spins and a “longer” 42km ride at IM power, which was a total breeze
Runs: Loads. Again. 45 miles / 72km for the week.
Did a 30km run, barfed after 25km, last 5km took 30 minutes. Don’t eat tacos before a long run is the lesson here. Wore the Next%.
10 mile run in 65 minutes, felt like a piece of piss. Wore the Next%.
1 hour fartlek to bag as many KoMs around my village that I could - felt pretty epic about getting all bar one I was targetting.
The village is home to a triathlon club, with some races being held in the area, so the KoMs aren’t “soft” and many are under 3:30/km.
I found I was not hitting my speedwork targets, preferring to mooch around with the dog (as that is super enjoyable for me) so I have started to target KoMs and do fartlek sessions instead, as it’s much more motivating for me to get up and out and do some harder work.
Did a couple of easy runs, too. One being back home after my brothers stag party - which was an absolute chore :face_vomiting:

Strava tells me 10hrs 12mins, but closer to 10.5hrs with the swim recovery intervals.

It is up to competitors to know the course.
If you go off course, for most races I know of, you must return at the point you left it and then continue with the course.

However…to be told one thing, then do something else isn’t really on from the race organisers.
